Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Update Your Arsenal

The latest set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges is either on its way or already with you, depending on your time zone, bringing five more events — some including content from the latest update — to work through over the next seven days.

Weekly Challenges are composed of five events, updating each week at midnight on Thursday evening. There’s four selected from existing World Circuits events, with a fifth Special Event that’s effectively a custom race created just for the week as a temporary event. Completing the races — by finishing third or better — during the seven-day window earns you bonus rewards, increasing in value the more you finish.

The races usually span the spectrum of lengths, cars, and standard rewards and this week’s entry-level event is at Brands Hatch Indy in the European Sunday Cup 400. It’s a three-lap race for road cars from Europe, with a 7,000cr first-place prize. Don’t worry about the “400” notation, as it’s just suggested Performance Point (PP) value if you want a competitive race.

A similar race but for road and “professionally tuned” cars from Japan follows next, in the Japanese Clubman Cup 550 at Fuji International Speedway. Again, 550PP is just a suggestion for this three-lap race which awards you 20,000cr.

Two races with PP caps follow, and at roughly the same level so you might like to use the same car but on different tires to get near the limit in both. Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps hosts a five-lap race for the Porsche Cup, which requires any Porsche vehicle tuned to no greater than 650PP and awards 87,500cr.

The other race is in the World Touring Car 600, which has a 600PP cap but no other limitations. It’s the newly added event at Interlagos, with the five laps paying out 90,000cr for victory.

Finally we have the Special Event, which showcases the new Gran Turismo F3500-A, an F1-style car inspired by the era of the early 1990s. It’s a one-make race for the car over 15 laps of High Speed Ring, and with a 150,000cr reward for finishing first it’s not a bad way to earn quick money if you can nab the Clean Race Bonus with a 50% bump.

For a second week in a row we have credit rewards as the bonus completion prizes, and again be aware that it’s awarded as tickets and not directly to your game piggy bank: you’ll need to redeem them from your Garage’s Gifts section to claim the money. You’ll collect 100,000cr, 200,000cr, and 500,000cr, for completing one, three, and all five events respectively.

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday February 7.
