Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges continue to arrive on their regular schedule, with another set now available or, if it’s not yet midnight on Thursday in your time zone, coming soon.
The Weekly Challenges comprise five events, mostly selected from the existing races in the World Circuits menu but with one created each week as a “Special Event” just for the purpose. Completing the races — by finishing third or better — during the week earns you bonus rewards, with higher prizes for the more events completed.
Usually there’s a range of events across a spectrum from the low- to high-paying, but it’s a pretty lucrative week this time. When you also consider that the bonus prizes are exclusively credit reward tickets, it’s worth getting the events checked off.
There are a couple of five-figure reward races this week, beginning with the 25,000cr available through the recently added Japanese FF Challenge 450 race at Sardegna Road Track C. It’s a three lap race for — you guessed it — FF cars from Japan, requiring road cars only. The “450” in the name is only a recommended Performance Point (PP) value, but feel free to go nuts.
You’ll need more driven wheels in the Japanese 4WD Challenge 600 race at Tokyo Expressway East Clockwise. As you might guess, that requires 4WD cars from Japan — road or “professionally tuned” (like the NISMO 400R) — and again that 600PP nomenclature is a hint only. Winning this two-lap race earns you 37,000cr.
It’s all five-figures from this point on, starting with the Hypercar Parade at Kyoto Driving Park. This will require you to unlock the event if you haven’t already done so, and takes the form of a four-lap race at the enormous, combined Yamagiwa+Miyabi track. You only need a road car for this event, with no other restrictions, and watch out for the Valkyrie and Vulcan if you want the 100,000cr first prize.
Our Special Event for the week is the next-highest paying, at 120,000cr, but you’ll be putting in a shift for it. That’s because it’s seven laps around the Daytona Road Course — location of the newly added fifth round of this season’s GTWS Exhibition Series — in your choice of Dodge Viper. You can pick any of the five Vipers in the game, including the Gr.4 and Gr.3 race cars, and with no other restriction. Engine swaps are permitted but, unless you have a spare freebie sitting in your garage, probably not worth it.
Finally there’s the World Touring Car 800 race at High Speed Ring. As a regular series for the Weekly Challenges you should know what to expect here, with a Gr.3 field of rivals for this 20-lapper. Anything up to the 800PP cap is permitted though, and keep an eye on the sky and make sure your pit crew can bring out something with grooves in it or that 160,000cr first prize will go to waste.
We’re back to the credit ticket rewards this week, which will require you to redeem them from your Gifts to earn their face values. That’s 100,000cr for completing any one race, 200,000cr for any three, and 500,000cr for the full set.
You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday February 21.
