Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Temple of Speed

A new set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges will start to become available globally as midnight passes in each time zone, bringing a fresh batch of five races to tackle over the coming seven days.

The Weekly Challenges consist of five events, for the most part selected from existing races in the World Circuits menu but with an additional new event created just for the week. Finishing the races — by finishing third or better — during the week’s window will earn you bonus rewards, with bigger prizes for the more events completed.

Of this week’s five, the least lucrative is a race in the Japanese FR Challenge 450 at High Speed Ring Reverse. As you might guess, you’ll need a front-engined, rear-wheel drive road car from Japan for the event, although the “450” in the name is only a recommended Performance Point (PP) value and you can enter something much more high-performance if you want the race out of the way. You’ll only score 10,000cr for winning this two-lap race.

A similar challenge but for American cars and with slightly quicker rivals comes next, by way of an American FR Challenge 550 race at Watkins Glen Short. It’s a three-lapper and requires a front-engined, rear-wheel drive road car from an American manufacturer, with the same note as above for the 550PP recommended range. There’s 32,000cr available for victory.

It’s a big bump up to the 80,000cr first prize for the Schwarzwald League race at Circuit de Sainte-Croix B. For this event you can use any car of any kind from Germany, so long as it’s within a hard limit of 700PP. Watch out for some late-race heroics from some of the AI, over the long four laps.

From there we slip over to Canada’s first ever Gran Turismo circuit, with the fictional Lake Louise ice track’s “Long” course hosting the World Rally Challenge Gr.B. Any of the handful of Gr.B cars can enter this, in any state of tune so long as they feature Snow tires. Winning nets you 85,000cr.

This week’s Special Event has one of the highest first-place rewards of any race that’s ever been in the Weekly Challenges, at 200,000cr, and it’s a pretty brisk race so could be a decent alternative if you want to rack up some credits in a fun manner.

Monza hosts this race — on the regular layout — which is a ten-lap blast for the fictional Gran Turismo F3500-A cars inspired by early 1990s’ Formula One. Your practice on the Time Trial event a couple of weeks back will have prepared you well, but watch out for a high, 8x tire wear multiplier and pick your racing tire grade accordingly.

There’s a mix of bonuses this week, with credit ticket rewards of 100,000cr and 200,000cr for completing one and three races respectively; don’t forget to redeem these from your Gifts to earn the credits. Completing all five will award you a Six-Star Roulette Ticket, which can offer 500,000cr, a Brand Central car worth at least that much, or — more rarely — 1,000,000cr.

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday February 28.
