Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Catching Some Zs

A new set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges is available, at least to those of us whose time zones are now in Friday March 7, once again featuring some of the new content added in the recent 1.56 update.

Weekly Challenges are composed of five events, mostly selected from the races already present in the World Circuits menu and joined by a “Special Event” created just for the week. Finishing these races — by placing third or better in each — during the seven-day period will earn you bonus rewards, increasing as you complete more of them.

A couple of less well-paying races start us off this week, beginning with the American FR Challenge 550 at Blue Moon Bay Speedway which pays out just 10,000cr for the win. We rarely see this location in any event, and it’s the tri-oval hosting this three-lap challenge for front-engined, rear-wheel drive road cars from the USA. Don’t worry about the “550” part, which is merely a suggested Performance Point (PP) value for a competitive race and not a restriction.

You’ll get double that for the considerably longer Japanese 4WD Challenge 600 at Kyoto Driving Park Yamagiwa, with 20,000cr on offer for victory. It’s a similar set of limitations for this three-lap event, requiring all-wheel drive road or “tuned” cars (NISMO would fall under this category) from Japan, at a suggested but not capped 600PP.

There’s a bit of a bump up to the one-make Special Event this week, featuring the new BMW Z4 3.0i. That’s actually the only limitation too, so you can tune the Z4 however you see fit for the four-lap race at Tokyo Expressway’s South Clockwise course, with 70,000cr available for taking the win.

Usually the World Touring Car 800 events are the top-paying, but not this week. There’s still 140,000cr in it for winning this ten-lap race at Dragon Trail Seaside Reverse (and its Hairpin of Many Incorrect Lines), in any car up to the 800PP limit using racing tires. The opponents here are usually Gr.3 cars, for reference, but you can sneak much more potent machinery in if you wish.

A second six-figure race awaits with our final event, the Neo-Classic Challenge at Fuji Speedway. These races are commonly pretty intense, with legendary cars from 1980-1999 at up to an 800PP performance cap and requiring racing tires — and with high tire wear, so don’t rely on softs to get your PP towards the limit. Winning the ten-lapper earns you a cool 168,000cr.

The bonuses are more of a variety pack this week. Completing any one event earns you the wildly random Six-Star Parts ticket, which can award you any “Ultimate” part for any of the cars in the game — and as yet, these parts cannot be sold so you’re stuck with it unless you use it. Finishing any three gives a 150,000cr ticket that you’ll need to redeem from your Gifts section of your Garage to claim.

Finally there’s a Six-Star Car ticket, which can award any Brand Central car at 500,000cr value or greater (including Invitation cars) for finishing the complete set of five.

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday March 14.
