Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Cavallo Vapore

The Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges are updating over the next few hours, as midnight passes in your local timezone, with five more races that include some of update 1.59’s new content to tackle over the next seven days.

Weekly Challenges comprise five events for players to attempt over the course of a week, with the races updating on Friday morning each week. Four come from existing races within World Circuits, over a spectrum of pace and rewards while there’s also a fifth “Special Event” created just for that week.

Standard GT7 completion rules apply, meaning that you’ll need to place third or better in a particular race to complete it, and there’s bonus rewards that increase in value as you complete more of them.

A rarely used circuit is up first this week, in a European Sunday Cup 500 race worth a mere 25,000cr. You can use any road car from a European manufacturer for this two-lap run of the National course at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with no other limitations: the “500” notation is simply a suggested Performance Point (PP) value for a relatively competitive race.

The recently added American Clubman Cup 700 race at Autodromo de Interlagos is the next on our agenda. It’s five laps of the famous F1 circuit, requiring road or tuned cars from any US brand — again the 700PP of the title is a suggestion rather than a rule — with 68,000cr available for victory.

Our Special Event this week is the next most valuable, offering 80,000cr for taking the win in a five-lap race around the Sardegna Road Track A. It’s a one-make for the new Ferrari 812 Superfast, and again features totally open tuning, though the AI seems to be sporting visual alterations only and a stock car should be sufficient.

A deceptively long race is next, as part of the unlock-required Hypercar Parade series. It’s just three laps, but the Circuit de Sainte-Croix C course is a bit of a slog. Handily this series also features the very barest of restrictions — requiring only that you use a road car — and you’ll need to be going pretty rapidly to beat the AI rivals in cars like the Aston Martin Valkyrie. Victory scores you 90,000cr.

Finally there’s another event you will need to unlock, and one of the very fastest series in the game at one of the highest-speed courses as the Gr.1 Prototype Series rolls into Fuji. You don’t actually need a Gr.1 car for this, as anything on Racing Tires and up to 950PP is eligible — but ensure that you have some wet weather rubber. This ten-lapper can earn you up to 175,000cr if you win.

We’ve got a second successive week of credits-only bonus rewards, so you should know what to expect. You’ll collect a 100,000cr ticket for finishing any one event, a 200,000cr ticket for checking off any three, and a 500,000cr ticket for sweeping the lot. As these are tickets, you’ll need to redeem them from your Garage’s Gifts section in order to get the cash value.

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday June 6.
