A surprising new collaboration has been announced at the GT World Series Showdown, with luxury and fashion brand Dior joining forces with Polyphony Digital on an unusual project.
It’s the first ever virtual fashion project for Dior Couture, with the brand’s artistic director for men’s collections, Kim Jones, created exclusive new in-game items.
Naturally that includes clothing for your driver avatar. You’ll be able to pick up a yellow and gray race suit which features the Dior oblique pattern and a Christian Dior Atelier Avenue Montaigne logo — celebrating the 30 Avenue Montaigne address in Paris where Christian Dior first set up the design house.
That comes with matching gloves and special “Diorizon” shoes, also featuring the famous oblique pattern. The number 47 appears on the clothing too, marking Dior’s founding and first fashion show in 1947.
Along with the clothing items, there’s a car that will become available in the Hagerty Collection Legends car dealer next month.
It’s a unique version of the De Tomaso Mangusta which also bears a special livery. The beige and gray car also sports the “47” number, as well as special Dior decals.
These items will become available in the game on Thursday August 25, which rather suggests a game update is scheduled for that date — and that should also bring what we suspect is a new circuit due to host the final round of the Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Series.
Of course it’s not the first time that Gran Turismo has partnered with fashion brands with digital items. A specially liveried Toyota Supra GT500 is available wearing the colors of streetwear brand Anti Social Social Club, with a valid purchase of real-world items giving a code allowing players to download it.
