F1-Inspired Gran Turismo F3500-A Revealed at 2024 Gran Turismo World Finals

The Gran Turismo World Series 2024 World Finals in Amsterdam has revealed another new car is heading to Gran Turismo 7 soon, with a second unique vehicle based on classic Formula One machinery.

Dubbed the F3500-A, the vehicle joins the older F1500T-A in the “Gran Turismo” brand stable as an unlicensed but really rather recognizable Formula One car from days gone.

Just as with the F1500T-A — a 1.5-liter turbo — the F3500-A’s name gives away what lurks beneath: a 3.5-liter, naturally aspirated engine. According to the event preview, the car sports some 773hp, although it’s not immediately apparent what engine that is.

Commentary pinned it as a V12, but to our ears — and the fact it looks like a 1991 Williams FW14 — we reckon it could be a V10. We’d say it’s a spiritual successor of Gran Turismo 3’s F1-inspired cars which, notably, were different depending on which region of the game you had!

The competitors in the Gran Turismo World Series Nations Cup final raced the car in the second race of the finals, giving us a first look (and listen) of the F3500-A in action in a race at — where else? — Monza.

As for when players might get their hands on it in the public build of Gran Turismo 7, there was no specific information forthcoming. However the commentary team suggested it would be “relatively soon” and we are expecting a game update in January 2025 to bring the already-revealed Hyundai IONIQ 5N.

Along with the two cars, the World Finals have also given us a good look at a potential future application for the Gran Turismo Sophy AI with an exhibition of a B-Spec mode. Mark us down as very intrigued!
