Gran Turismo Made Him a Pro

Although this isn’t game play footage, here’s an interesting video from Sony which features none other than Lucas Ordonez, winner of the first GT Academy.  It’s not only impressive what he has achieved so far, but now he’s part of a high-profile marketing campaign from Sony. Congratulations Lucas, hopefully there will be a lot more good things happening this year for you!

Unfortunately, we’re still waiting for all the media at CES to share new GT5 footage (hint hint, nudge nudge) with us – we’ll be sure to update you all as soon as we can.

I want to try it, because I really know how to drive. I’ve been dirving since I was 6 years old! When I was in second or third grade I drove my friends around with an suv (manual transmission). My dad was on the passenger side, and I was changing the gears, he was just teaching me. I bought a first with my brother when I was 11 and I had the best time ever! Drifting and driving off road was the best!! After couple months I got a second one and it was fun too, driving at night with my friend. The cars were worth like $150 each, both manuall. Good times.. I just wish I had a camera..
PS: I lived in a small town, so everything I said is true. Cops? Like 5 officers in my town. They’re cool.

It’s probably Irwindale. I’ve looked around online and this video is on a couple of advertisement-focused sites, and this was apparently made by an LA-based firm.

Renan, I was there. This is GT5 Prologue on a moving Audi TT DTM just like Jordan said. His laptime is in red because it was an invalid ; he must have cut off the track or something like that.

There was only one GT5 demo and that was the same one as TGS 09 with Tokyo track (458 Italia, SLS AMG, Hirvonen’s Focus). I took one crappy quality vid here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJ5gStS-99I

Also the track at the end isn’t Indianapolis, it has billboards on the end of the track and Indy is a privately owned facility that does NOT allow ANY advertisements anywhere except a few Coca-Cola billboards in midfield.

It’s a local track in that video.

Did anyone notice but the entire video was filmed in America? when the GT Academy has NOTHING to do with America? let alone Lucas is European?

*head bangs* but on the otherhand, America FTW! :-D

I’m still immensely impressed with what Lucas has done. It is so great to have him out there adding some credibility to our ‘game’. I know I’ll never race in the GT4 series. I also know I’ll never even be able to race in any series. I love cars and I love racing but they are simply out of reach for me. The GT series, however, makes it possible for me to come home from work, clean up, put the family to bed, and then go drive 200 mph in cars I could never dream of affording. Thanks Lucas for working hard and congratulations for such a superb first season.

Cool is that Indianapolis track from this year’s GT Academy at the end there?
I feel intimate with that track now lol

Way to Go Lucas! Are you looking forward to see who will be the next guy to follow on your footsteps, at least some competitions & friendly rivalries with the second Winner of GT Acad.

    Good vid.

But i believe!! But as many it changes nothing because we have not the right nationality or live in the right country :(

@Renan: Good find, though I’m pretty sure that’s the Prologue simulator attached to an Audi TT. Take a closer look at it here.
