Just in time for both the weekend and the holiday season, the Gran Turismo feature film is now available to stream on Netflix in the United States as of December 15, 2023.
The release is part of a deal between Sony Pictures Entertainment and Netflix which gives Netflix a priority license to stream Sony’s major feature films after their theatrical and home entertainment windows. It has not yet been announced when it will become available in other regions, though it can likely be expected to roll out over the next few months.
After its premiere on August 11, the movie became available to purchase on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, and Apple TV in September.
It also arrived on PlayStation consoles through the “Sony Pictures Core” service with behind-the-scenes features and bundled Gran Turismo 7 credits in October. (We also spotted it on Delta Air Lines’ in-flight entertainment system on our way to the GT World Finals in Barcelona!)
It is likely the movie will be popular on Netflix. Although many die-hard fans were critical of the film — we had our own thoughts in our full Gran Turismo movie review — it has performed well.
After opening in the top spot at the US box office, it quickly brought in over $80 million in global ticket sales, and maintains a 98% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Gran Turismo, of course, tells the “true story” of Jann Mardenborough, the real-life 2011 GT Academy champion. As with most movie adaptations, the truth gets re-worked a bit to make the story fit into its run time. To learn more about the actual story, check out our deep-dive Gran Turismo movie fact-check.
