Gran Turismo PSP “Collector’s Edition”, European Bundle

gran-turismo-psp-collectors-edition-largeMany people were quick to write off the Gran Turismo PSP “Collector’s Edition” boxart that popped up last month, but it’s looking quite legitimate after Sony announced it last week.  This version, available only in Europe, is going to include a black 2009 Bugatti Veyron 16.4, available right out of the box.  You’ll also get some Veyron “artcards”, and a special edition “rainbow silver foil effect” Collector’s Edition pack.

To further complicate European fan’s decision making process, a new “Gran Turismo Edition” PSP-3000 bundle will also be hitting store shelves in a “unique Titanium finish”, along with a download voucher for a white Corvette ZR-1 and a leather pouch for your PSP. These regional bundles and special offers are really starting to pile up – get ready for an overview of them all in the coming week, so you won’t have to worry about missing out on anything in your area. October 1st will be here before you know it!

i dont know wat to do.. ive got a psp 2000 that doesnt play umds now (all of a sudden) and im pissed.. i preordered gtPSP and its gonna come in a week from now… should i: selll gtPSP and get gt bundle? or keep gtPSP and buy a 3000??

  2. JDigital

I hope they offer a sweep bundle for NA… I need a PSP and I’m only buying it for GTMobile… Hear that Sony? I have a need and I hope you fill it so I can give you my money…

  3. David

If this PSP has the GT logo on it (like the special JPN version) and is in a Titainium finish (looks black in these pics) then its really quite tempting. Im glad its the 3000 on offer and not the GO because thats truely crap!

But I would rather save the money for a GT5 special edition, I just hope you dont have the buy a PS3 with it!

I used to bring a (large) ps2 to work in my back pack, I and my back pack were so happy to get a slim ps2. Then when i bought a ps3 I ripped 3 backpacks to shreds. The slim ps3 is high on my wish list so it is hard for me to consider a hand held with far less features at almost the same price point ($249 vs. $299) I am not however blind to the potential of the psp go, and niether is sony. Rember how many iterations nintendo went though with the “Game-boy”? In this world market serious thought must be given to the life cycle of any thing you send out there. I did not think i would love the ps network and online gameing as much as I do now but it is the future and the psp go is uniquely suited to take advantage of it while saveing on production cost. let’s hope they do something with it.

The PSP on the box looks black. After reading this…

“this machine features special GT branding and ornaments in a unique Titanium finish”

Sounds to me like the finish of the PSP is black, and the branding is in a titanium finish. If it is the PSP itself, I may pick this up.

  6. The Masfer

Psp go is crap. It isn’t any better than the 3000 it’s worse. All it is is a smaller model without the umd

only a couple of people will buy it.

good work PD, this will encourage more people to take up our [digital] sport. recently some car mag had an article on how the author wanted to learn the ring, but with a 5 year old at home he couldn’t find the time to play. You could see the joy almost leap from the page as Kaz handed him a psp and said “You will learn the ring one of these days.” Do ya’ll recall how many car mags gave away ps2 with a copy of GT4 for the wining leter of the month? Imagine the buzz for GT5 (In the main-stream press, not here in fan-boy-dom) when they start to hand out psp-gos. Don’t hate on GT psp. Every PD product has improved Sony’s game catalogue and given pd the tools to make what will be an amazing game. We can all nitpic at the appetizers but chef Kaz is throwing down in the kitchen and it smells good.

They whole point of the bundle is to create a division of digital cars in limited numbers.
Like I said in first comment above.

I think The Masfer meant to say PSPgo.

But doesn’t European PSPgo buyer in the first few weeks of launch already get the GT PSP download for free? So I guess SCEE wouldn’t double up on the free bonus on that (Plus it would look stupid to sell PSPgo with a “special package” UMD copy of GT PSP).

One thing I kept wondering about:

The PSP shooting game “Resistance: Retribution” has a feature which allows the player to sync the PSP with PS3 and use the Dualshock3 controller to play the PSP game.

If this feature is included in GT PSP, coupled with AV/component output directly from PSP to a TV, we might end up with a pseudo “GT4 2009” (in PS2 quality).

And if the Logitech steering wheel could be linked as well…..

    @ The Masfer:
    It’s the PSP 3003, meaning, it’s a PSP 3000 series.
    Slim = smaller
Lite = name use to refer to the longer lasting battery.
or something like that, I know I’m not entirely wrong on this one.

I’ll get this one, since the analog of my PSP 2004 FFVII 10th anniversary is on it’s last leg, and I need all the precision that I can get when it comes to driving on GT.

    @The Masfer

“…a new “Gran Turismo Edition” PSP-3000 bundle will also be hitting store shelves in a “unique Titanium finish”…”

    Huh?

  12. The Masfer

Has anyone noticed it’s the slim and lite psp not the psp 3000. Pointless bundle. If it was a 3000 I might get it

  13. Sam__NY

This is the beginning of how cars will digitally be produced in numbers. You can get all these PSP cars coming in these exclusive colors if you buy these bundles there offering.BUT Not everyone will buy these bundles so they wont get a WHITE CORVETTE ZR1 or a BLUE NISSAN GTR SPEC-V. With the car TRADING FEATURE on GT PSP those exclusive cars will be traded among players, and will have a digital value (to the person who owns it). Because there are only as many exclusive WHITE CORVETTE ZR1s and NISSAN GTRs as there are people who bought the bundles.

    You get my logic here.

The same will probably happen with GT5.

  14. driver

I need GT5 no psp is for kids

“this is the reason why GT5 is taking so long to come out, so that sony could rip us off and make as much money as they can bringing out little spin off games”

… you aren’t serious, are you? Are you looking at the same screenshots and videos of GT: PSP? The PSP is a legitimate gaming platform, and as far as GT:PSP goes, it is looking to be one of the most impressive handheld titles I’ve ever seen… It’s a perfect console seller for Sony, and a welcome addition to a device that is lacking a killer racing app. So while the project may be delaying GT5 a little bit, at least they’ve been using their time on something worthwhile. Boycotting a fantastic franchise because they are working harder for their fans makes no sense at all.

  16. Alan

Im from Europe and guess what, im still not buying it, this is the reason why GT5 is taking so long to come out, so that sony could rip us off and make as much money as they can bringing out little spin off games

  17. James

Does anyone know where this is available to pre-order yet?? (collectors edition of the game)
I notice that play.com have the other 4 pre order cars, so if you can get it from them, then you will get all 5??! (except for the Corvette)
Im hoping you can pre-order this soon..

  18. missionfailed

‘This version, available only in Europe, is going to include a black 2009 Bugatti Veyron 16.4, available right out of the box. ‘

Oh really… I always thought that they were to big to fit in a box. Marketing costs must be high !
