Gran Turismo PSP “Limited Edition” Pack Announced

Gran Turismo PSP may be coming out on October 1st, but if you can hold out a few more days (and have some extra cash laying around), you can pick up this “Limited Edition Entertainment Pack” on October 20th.  Here’s what you get for $200 (via press release):

  • “Mystic Silver” PSP-3000
  • Gran Turismo PSP on UMD
  • A “downloadable voucher” for a white Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 – a color which is otherwise not available in the game
  • 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo
  • PlayStation Network downloadable “movie voucher”
  • Sony Music Pass voucher, good for downloading 10 songs

If we break down the numbers, considering the PSP-3000 “Core Pack” is $169.99, you’re basically getting the game for $30 (it’s regularly $39.99) along with a few extras.  This appears to be North America’s “bundle”, and although they’ve tried to sweeten the deal with a few extras, you could argue that European and Japanese consumers have a stronger incentive to spend more money, and they won’t have to wait until October 20th to do it.  In Japan, of course, they get this black PSP-3000 emblazoned with the GT logo, and in Europe, you’ll get GT PSP for free if you spend $250 on the new PSP Go.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

I like it but i already have the PSP Go on reserve so ill just download this. Just seems your getting more for your money with the PSP Go.

You mean PSP micro. Playing a high resolution high performance game on that speck of tech is like watching 2001 on TCM. I can’t stand controllers that make me curl my fingers and grip just to keep a hold of it, and I wouldn’t recommend the PSP go to any real gamer. On the other hand, if you’re under 10, or a teenage girl, go ahead. Otherwise, trust me, you’ll regret it the second you use a PSP slim for GT. Even if you do end up liking it, I hope you have a high speed wireless network in your house and a few extra DUO sticks lying around because the PSP section in your local store or even Amazon is useless now that you opted for the Go which only uses downloads. I will be downloading GT on my PSP slim, but it will be the first game I’ve downloaded, and only because of my terminal hate for Gran Turismo loading times. Take my advice and skip BOTH the new Go and this UMD bundle, just go buy a regular PSP slim, and you can do it TODAY for much cheaper than these promoted and delayed options.

Nothing special here, I agree with ‘David’.

Also; this “limited edition” PSP 3000…is the exact same one selling with the European pack Dissidia: Final Fantasy (not the limited edition to celebrate the 20th, just a simple PSP 300 Mystic Silver with the game.)

So, either way, I wouldn’t buy it.
So far I’m only aiming to buy the standard UMD version of the game, since I don’t live neither in America or Japan, and I don’t have that much money for a PSP GO!.

well…the US plays video games more than any other country, so, it makes since that we would get the cheaper incentive.

Wow how weird is that? 20th October marks my 18th Birthday along with the Limited Edition pack of GT PSP :D Ah well i’m getting the new PSP Go on 1st October no way I could wait anylonger for it!

That a pretty poor deal because nothing in that pack is special or limited edition, its just a bundle of stuff you can buy normally. No different game cover, no special detailed PSP, theres nothing to say this is GT special pack. Atleast the JPN PSP will have that GT logo on that although its equally pointless as its so small.

I wish that when the do a limited edition they do it on a grand scale, like the special Nike shoes and GT4 boxset, that was lush!

Not a bad deal, cool PSP color… only problem its 20 days to late. I’m not holding out that long. Plus I got a PSP. Not understanding this with the GO on the horizon.

Even though you can get GTPSP for free with a GO, I still think you would be mad to buy one. This bundle looks good for you Americans though. This game might give me the incentive I need to actually buy a PSP.
