If you’ve been waiting for more details on the inaugural Gran Turismo Sport FIA Championship Series, the wait just got a little longer.
A short news blast popped up on the official site yesterday announcing the bump. Previously, during the Nürburgring 24H special event, Polyphony Digital announced a June 1 date for a “special announcement”. The revision does away with a specific date, only suggesting mid-June:
The FIA Gran Turismo Championships 2018 Series Season 1 is planned for start in mid-June.
Details regarding the Championship structure are also planned for announcement in mid-June, and point races will be temporarily closed until the start of the season.
As of writing, there are no further details on the reason for the delay. Luckily, it’s a short one. A detailed explanation of the series structure will be very helpful — and who knows, maybe we’ll hear about the mysterious FIA licensing system.
While that now empties the schedule for this coming Friday, GT Sport players still have an exciting week ahead. There’s nine cars coming to the game at some point over the next seven days, to say nothing of any additional content PD may be keeping in the shadows for now. We’ll find out very soon…
