Sony has released more details on the upcoming Tokyo Game Show. Sure enough, Gran Turismo Sport has a dedicated spot, with a live race event.
While the press conference kicks off next Tuesday, GT Sport’s race will take place on Sunday, the final day of TGS. Much like previous live events, Sony will be running qualifying events for TGS visitors in the time leading up to the final. The top four guests will race for prizes.
In addition, former Super GT racer Juichi Wakisaka will be on hand to demonstrate the game. Wakisaka spent most of his career with the Toyota/Lexus teams, winning the championship in 2002, 2006, and 2009.
The GT franchise has had a long relationship with the Super GT series, even when it was still the JGTC. We haven’t yet spotted any cars from the series in GT Sport, but there are a few gaps left in our Always Up-To-Date Car List. To add to the mystery, Polyphony recorded audio from the Lexus RC F GT500 car last year. If the series is returning to the franchise, a reveal in its native land would make the most sense.
With just over a month left until GT Sport’s release, we’ll be keeping a close eye on the TGS presser on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the full Sony TGS schedule is available here.
