Gran Turismo Sport Update 1.03 Released, Sport Mode Races Updated

It’s been just over a week since Gran Turismo Sport launched. Earlier today, Polyphony Digital released the third update for the game, bringing it up to version 1.03.

The patch is relatively small, weighing in at just under 200MB. It focuses on bug fixes, from minor issues to larger, game-crashing ones.

Previously, users found two instances that could cause the game to crash. Deleting the required email address was one, while using a custom color chip on a car in Drift Trial was the other. According to Polyphony Digital, both issues have been rectified.

Version 1.03 brings good news for Thrustmaster users too. Those with a T500RS may have experienced excessive FFB during understeer moments before. PD has fixed this issue. Meanwhile, TH8A shifter users can now take comfort: GT Sport will now recognize the H-pattern shifter when it’s plugged into a compatible wheel.

In terms of general wheel settings, all setups now benefit from the ability to decrease maximum torque. As sim racing wheels continue to get more powerful, this should help those looking to fine-tune their experiences.

Controller users aren’t left in the dark, either. PD has increased the steering sensitivity on the DS4 in a bid to improve countersteering — an issue we faced during our review of GT Sport.

New Sport Mode Races

The game’s eponymous mode has received another refresh of its event trio. Full details are below:

  • Race A: N200 @ Blue Moon Bay II (4 Laps, 12-car field)
  • Race B: Group 4 @ Kyoto Driving Park – Yamagiwa (4 Laps, 12-car field)
  • Race C: Group 3 @ Nürburgring GP (10 Laps, 16-car field)

Polyphony made an unannounced change earlier this week by chopping Sport Mode fields in half, to a dozen cars. The new Gr.3 race sees that figure increase again — suitable, as it’s the longest race so far.

As ever, keep an eye on the GTPlanet GT Sport sub-forum for any undocumented changes, as the community dives into the latest version of the game.
