Danish clothing brand bareen has revealed that it will be announcing a collaboration with Gran Turismo towards the end of March, following some gentle teasers earlier in the week.
As a rather young, and Danish, brand, it’s likely that you may be unfamiliar with bareen. It was originally founded by four friends who just couldn’t find the nice, basic t-shirt they wanted. To that end they created the company in 2018 under the name Bare En T-Shirt (“Just a T-Shirt”), shortening it to “bareen”.
Having originally just produced t-shirts, the company now sells a largely simple range of leisure- and sports-wear, from socks to hoodies, to sunglasses and water bottles.
The company flagged an upcoming partnership with a PlayStation brand earlier this week, lightly giving the game away with a series of car-based short videos and clues like “Racing since 1997” — the year the first Gran Turismo hit shelves in Japan — before confirming that it was indeed GT on Friday.
For now we don’t know what the collaboration will entail, ahead of the official announcement on March 27. However it doesn’t seem like a stretch to suggest that it’ll be a capsule collection of bareen’s products bearing the GT logo.
Given bareen’s mission statement it’s likely that the products will be more reasonably priced than some previous GT clothing collaborations — such as Dior, Bathing Ape, Undefeated, and Anti-Social Social Club. Current product prices range from €24 ($26) for the socks to €147 ($161) for a fleece, and the company’s signature t-shirt coming in at €47 ($51).
Of course we’ll have to wait until Wednesday March 27 to find out what items are in the collection and the pricing — not to mention the availability, which is likely to be limited to Europe as with the rest of bareen’s product range.
