Greaves Motorsport LMP2 Coming to GT6 for GT Academy 2015

As with every new GT6 update, a handful of individuals in the Gran Turismo community have been poking at the recent v1.18 patch to hunt for hidden things – and this time they’ve struck a little bit of gold.

All-but-confirmed by a series of Twitter comments and retweets from the official NISMO account and also NISMO mandarin Darren Cox, the Greaves Motorsport Zytek-Nissan car as used by Jann Mardenborough and Lucas Ordonez at the 24 Heures du Mans in 2013 seems to be coming to Gran Turismo.

In-game models of the car have been revealed, wearing either the #42 of the Mardenborough, Ordonez & Krumm car from Le Mans or, as is traditional for GT Academy event test cars, this year’s Nissan GT Academy badging – suggesting one car will be used for the Academy events and the other will be on its way into the main GT6 game itself.

In all, four cars have been discovered added in the patch, with the two versions of the Greaves car and two GT Academy-branded Nissan GT-Rs – the GT-R NISMO road car and a version of the RJN Motorsport GT3 racer. With four events in this season’s GT Academy, that potentially leaves gap for a fourth car that has yet to be revealed – and Polyphony Digital may well be leaving that for another update in order to avoid having the final round scooped like last year. The possibility remains open then for a high-speed decider using the Nissan GT-R LM in June… watch this space!

So you know when GT Academy starts there is always those GT Academy exclusive cars? Well, the cars for GT Academy 2015 will be GT Academy exclusive cars of course.

Here’s the official cars for GT Academy 2015:

    Nissan GTR Nismo (GT Academy)
Nissan GTR Nismo GT3 Team RJN (same from last year)
Nissan Greaves Motorsport Zytek Z11SN (GT Academy)
    Unknown car for last round

Maybe the unknown car is gonna be the GTR LM Nismo! Fingers crossed!

  2. Progress823

Saw the LMP2 in one of my free run/tune rooms last night – kicked the person of course but the car looks and sounds nice.

    1. Progress823

Probably the “clock trick” – setting time and date on your system to the time you want.

  3. Leggacy

I wonder if one of the events is going to be the goodwood hill climb in that car?

Damn, I’m gonna suck at that!

    1. Leggacy

Probably have to ditch cockpit view for bumper cam if that’s the case. The margins of the track are so narrow and that car looks wide and powerful.

      Still I like a challenge

  4. DSUjoeDirte9

Lmps and group c’s are my favorite racing leagues ever, but i would enjoy this a whole lot more if the AI had a chance with this car to do better than 3rd.

PD needs to fix the lmps in the game. The fastest modern record on sarthe is like a 3:18 set in i think a peugeot 908. (?) I cant do that in gt6 In a 908, maybe if I mod the car past the already higher than life bhp number it has in gt6.

    1. DSUjoeDirte9

Arnt GT6’s tires too grippy though? Like, shouldn’t a proper test be on like, one of the Sports tires? (I think, im not sure if they patched that or not)

    2. Progress823

It’s not that the tires are too grippy – it’s that everyone is always using racing soft tires no matter what they are driving when online. Most people don’t realize that they are only really for qualifying – not much else.

The sports tires are exactly what they are for – sport driving. Good enough if you want to meet up at the track in a road car and run a few laps.

    3. DSUjoeDirte9

PD should try and separate the cars then. They have cars like the 787b, c9, and Minolta that are so much faster in the same league as slower lmps.

    4. Progress823

They actually separated them, to a point. The Group C cars you mention are mostly in the 710pp range as the current/recent LMP 1 cars are around 685pp (give or take a few). I agree more can be done to class them together but that truly involves using the power limiter – meh. Even with the current ones there are discrepancies – the TS030 is only at 617pp but will run circles around the R18 at 633pp. I recall at the 2011 LeMans that the R18 was about 2 seconds faster overall per lap…

    5. DSUjoeDirte9

If they can be classed differently then I’ll have reason to buy more than the faster cars. I don’t race online so I just do arcade, and if I want to use like, an R10, I’ll lose to the ai because there be something like the pescarolo hybrid in the race. Which is like, the fastest AI driven lmp/group c in the game.

  5. Maddens Raiders

This is totally awesome. Can’t wait to drive it. Please keep adding LMP2 and P1 cars from the modern era PD!

  6. gillesthegt6

Is this going to come in game when the round is available or Just in the next update
    does anybody know?

” a handful of individuals in the Gran Turismo community have been poking at the recent v1.18 patch to hunt for hidden things”

I bet these little so and so’s go round the house seeing what they have for christmas….!

    1. TomBrady

Agreed. i wish GT had a FOV setting and adjustable seats. The view angle options really suck so I usually just stick with the default setting

  8. TomBrady

Well that’s really cool. Is this the first LMP 2 in GT?

I hope the final round isn’t in a GT-R. Really don’t like driving them in any sim, not just GT6.

  9. drspeedy

the lmp2 car at least is better than the nissan leaf . with fast cars there is always room for improvement and they are not boring so yeah this is a good news

    1. SVPSkins

      id say

      Round 1: Academy Nismo GT-R
      Round 2: Nismo GT-R GT3
      Round 3: Zytek-Nissan LMP2
Round 4: what ever the missing car is.
