Nissan Philippines president Antonio Zara confirmed GT Academy will be coming to the country in 2015 while speaking to the media earlier this week.
The program will be a major part of the company’s marketing initiatives in the Philippines, where sales have risen over 40% in the past year.
According to MotionCars’ report on the event, the country’s top 12 finalists will be chosen from online time trials and live events, with six national representatives ultimately moving forward to compete against other countries in the International Race Camp at Silverstone.
GT Academy has been on a role in Asia, with recent expansion to India and Thailand last year. Both countries are likely to return in 2015, and a document from the FIA discovered last October suggests the program will be coming to Indonesia, Malaysia, and Japan this year as well.
We’re still likely several months away from the program’s official announcement, but this year’s competition is already shaping up to be one of the biggest yet. Stay tuned for more!

Can’t wait for it!
Better get ready for GT Academy, I always wanted to join this.
I wonder if Jamaica and the West Indies, or even Africa will ever get GT Academy! Money is where the heart is I guess.
Awesome!! Is this the first time a non-PSN supported region will be able to partake in GT Academy? I wonder how they’re going to host it, perhaps through live events on location in the Philippines, or maybe get PSN to launch in the Philippines?
Not really the first time if you’re counting GT Academy middle east as Bahrain (I guess people will know it from F1 and 6 hours Wec) isn’t supported. Yes you could play using that account but access to things like PSS and such? Nope.
Still it’s an really awesome news for Philippine and other country’s to enter GT academy. Hopefully Brazil and a lot of other country’s gets a chance to enter in. :)
Its time! This is what im looking forward to all these years! Looking forward to the competition and also for the event itself! :)
Good luck to the Filipino GTPlanet members who are within a shout of reaching the national final and race camp. I look forward to joining you at Silverstone should New Zealand get included this year too ;).
Congratulations Philippines :)
What spec is that GTR in the photo? That is a rather small wing on the back, must have that livery as well, it looks sexy. Great to hear GT Academy is reaching out to more places this new year, what a way to build up excitement for racing around the world.
That’s actually the old FIA GT1 car.
Yay!! My home country.
