Silverstone has been a hive of activity for two weeks as first the international group and then the Asian finalists took part in their respective Race Camps, won by Matt Simmons and Jose Gerard Policarpio.
Europeans though will have to wait a little longer and travel further afield – to the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi in October – and while most regions have got their full complement of finalists there’s still an opportunity for one UK resident to grab a berth.
To qualify you’ll need to show off your Gran Turismo skills one more time, at a live event to be held at the Trafford Centre in Manchester on September 12th and 13th. Simply pop along to the Nissan GT Academy stand and set one of the top six times across both days – 10am-9pm on Saturday, 10am-4pm on Sunday – and you’ll be invited back for a final selection process.
Just to give you a taste of Race Camp, this will be judged on three categories: a further test on the Gran Turismo pod; a 60 second Batak challenge; and an interview from a panel of Nissan representatives. This will whittle the field down to two, who’ll endure a straight head-to-head race back on the pods.
The eventual winner will have his or her place confirmed at about 6pm on the Sunday, so if you’re making special travel plans make sure you’ve left enough time to collect your prize! Nissan also advises that competitors should bring their passports along with them in order that the flights to Race Camp can be booked as soon as possible…
So if you want this to be you in October, bring your passport and your A-game to Manchester next month!
