The Kingdom of Thailand is the latest country to be added in a growing list of new nations participating in GT Academy for 2014, a country with a strong passion for motorsport.
Thai driver Tor Graves raced with GT Academy winners Lucas Ordonez and Ashley Oldfield in the 2014 Dubai 24 Hour as a teammate. He’s following up with GT Academy by being one of the main mentors of the Thai competition and should be there from start to finish.
The rules and format are similar to India’s, with online time trials bringing forward the top 14 Thai gamers along with 14 more gamers that set the fastest times at live GT Academy events situated around the country. The first live event will be held at the Nissan booth in the 2014 Bangkok International Motor Show from March 26 to April 6.
The GT Academy Live Events will also be held at various provinces in Thailand during the following periods:
24 – 27 April, 2014 Central Khon Kean
8 – 11 May, 2014 Central Suratthani
5 – 8 June, 2014 Central Ladprao
12 – 15 June, 2014 Central Festival Chiang Mai
Nissan will then take the fastest 28 drivers and put them through challenges until they’re left with the six best. The winner of the Final stage of the competition this Summer in Silverstone will become a professional NISMO Athlete that will begin training in Nissan’s Driver Development Program with a goal to compete in the Dubai 24 Hours in January 2015.

Can’t believe they still haven’t been to Finland the legendary country of the best rally rivers. There are a lot of people in Finland who race so GT Academy could get really good drivers from here.
Looks like I’m the only person excited about this then. :D
Funny that they bring the program to a country that barely have any players and it is an individual region competition too. Hope this doesn’t prove those GTA haters right if ya know what i mean.
The vehicle of choice should be the Toyota HiAce and all of the visa-run drivers from Phuket should enter.
Why don’t they bring GT academy to
Canada!!!
Because of Canada’s laws. Mainly caused by Quebec.
Isn’t Quebec trying to become uncanadian?

GT Academy North Korea. Let’s do this.
Well that’s awesome. How about letting Canadians get in on some of this! One of the most revered drivers in F1 Gilles Villeneuve, his son Jacques a former F1 champion, Ron Fellows one of the best road course drivers in North America and we get nothing. Really PD. We have an F1 track actually 2, so what gives.
It’s not that PD or Sony doesn’t want to evolve Canada, it’s the legal ties that come with the event. If you really want GT Academy to evolve Canada speak with your local government.
Blame it on Quebec.
How many times does it have to be said: Its not PD/Sony’s Fault whether Canada allows it or not.
Well that’s awesome. How about letting Canada get in on some of this!
Wishing Indonesia will be the next country to be added for gt academy. There are also many potential racer in there too! :D
Excellent – the more countries that get involved, the higher level of talent there will be. Nice to see different countries able to get in
