The first day of the GT Academy 2010 Silverstone Finals are complete! The participants saw little bit of everything: fitness tests, written tests, 370Z track time, and a karting endurance race. The France/Portugal team has done the best so far, winning the karting competition, with Spain and Benelux coming in 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Read through the first-hand reports in our new GT Academy 2010 forum, or keep reading to check out the complete gallery from Day 1.

That looks like so much fun, I can’t wait for this game…
This phase looks way more intense than I’d ever assumed. Good luck to you incredibly lucky/skilled winners! And Wardo? Get a clue!
What a experience! These guys will remember this competition for rest of their lives. I’m glad GT is very compromised in motorsport, also, this makes the game feels more incredible to me, there’s an atmosphere of motoring and among with Top Gear intervention, this game will be the “Nirvana” of petrolheads around the world.
Cheers,
She’s one of the judges – along with Rob Barff (who’s been driving British GT and FIA GT as long as I can remember), Johnny Herbert and Eddie Jordan.
Interesting, what does Sabine Schmitz have to do with the GT Academy? Is she one of the instructors?
It’s not benelux . Just bene. Luxemburg is not in.
Cool pics though
They sure have there fun, and they do have earned it , so go go go all of you!!
@Wardo If you don’t have anything interesting at all to say, sometimes it’s best not to say anything :O
Looks cool, go go benelux! :D
Go Benelux! :)
Go Karts, Shopping Trolleys, Invalid Carriages or a damn skateboard. Driving ‘any’ wheeled device in GT5 would be nice.
One day, one day…..
I find it funny how there was a thread asking if it would be good or not for GT5 to include go karts.
And here they are driving go karts makes you wonder huh.
@ Wardo
Do you think that the programmers have anything to do with the running of this competition at Silverstone? No. Of course they made a demo available available for all (which i thouroughly enjoyed and so did prolly a million other people). This competition wont be slowing down any work that they are doing, so its not a waste of time, and it is a great iniciative for wanna be racers to actually get a chance at making something from a love of gaming…
what a waste of time, just give us the damn game
they have fun eh….
Viva Portugal!
So which one’s you?
