Nissan and Sony is bringing GT Academy back to the Middle East after its successful maiden run last year. Inaugural winner Salman Al-Khater from Qatar placed first in class at the Britcar 1000km and Nissan is looking to repeat the accomplishment with a new Nismo Athlete for 2014.

Salman-Al-Khater-2013-ME-GT-Academy_WinnerAspiring talents will have their chance to become another driver in the increasing pool of GT Academy graduates through a series of online challenges and live wild card events leading to the final selection process at Silverstone Circuit, England. The winner will go on to become a professional race driver for Nissan. Although the prize for 2013’s Summer Racecamps were full FIA GT3 racing seasons, there’s no guarantee it will be the same case for GT Academy Middle East 2014 until more information is released.

The age limit for entry has been reduced to 18 from 21 as it was last year. More specifics are yet to be revealed, with details regarding participating countries and eligibility still being settled on by the organizers. We will bring you those details as we find them. However, those looking to compete would be well advised to start preparations now and early.

YES ! Finally the age limit has been reduced ! It makes alot more sense now !
I’m so glad ! Specially since I’m turning 18 soon.

:) Looking forward to the event.

What ever happened to Salman? He was due to race in the 2014 Dubai 24 Hour with the rest of the Nissan team in the “pro” car. Next thing you know Lucas is having to do double duty between the 2 cars. What gives?

I think the GT Academy fuels GT car, track and physics updates. The last two academies saw physics and video changes to GT5. I suspect the same may be true for GT5.5 AKA GT6. Most likely cars and tracks will come after the GT5 servers go away and during 2014 academy. Just my 0.2 cents worth.
Still bumming about the wait, and no word from Kaz/PD.

Just wondring, if all this GT Academy, is taking PDs eyes of GT6 and maybe 7s ball. I mean, since GT Academy has become this big (fair play) the game seems to suffered.

Is there some rather crude advertising embedded in GT Planet all of a sudden?
As an iPhone user when I swipe to scroll down the page I’m repeatedly taken to the app store to purchase the William Hill betting app.
It’s more annoying than checking here in the first place to find no news about new tracks.

Well, about as much work as a seasonal TT…possibly a little more if it has support events…not really enough to get in the way though.

I absolutely LOVE how there are more announcements on GT Academy now than there are for the future of Gran Turismo 6.
