GT Academy Team RJN has confirmed it will be taking part in the upcoming 2017 Dubai 24 Hours event, which will be held at the Dubai Autodrome, UAE from January 12–14.
This year driving duties will be shared by Jann Mardenborough, Johnny Guindi Hamui (2016 GT Academy champion), Ricardo Sanchez, and Romain Sarazin. A total of 99 cars have been registered, divided into a staggering 11 classes. The RJN team will be competing in the SP3-GT4 class with the tried-and-true Nissan 370Z (#123), and will compete for a podium placement amidst 20 other rivals.
GT Academy Team RJN has a healthy record of nothing but success at Dubai’s annual racing event. Out of four entries registered so far, every single one of them have awarded the team with a class podium position. The 2014 season was particularly memorable as they finished the race first in the SP2 class.
Hamui is the newest recruit to the GT Academy squad of talents, and will be having his inaugural race in Dubai. Shortly after winning the 2016 GT Academy title Hamui joined the Nissan Driver Development Program and commenced with the demanding preparations for the twice-around-the-clock challenge of Dubai. It should be noted GT Academy didn’t take part in the 2016 Hours of Dubai last year, but it’s now returning with all the best ingredients to continue the successful results streak.
Qualifying sessions kicks off on Thursday 12 at 16:30 local time, followed by the actual race the next day at 14:00. For more information on the event, please visit the 24H Endurance Series official website. GTPlanet wishes good luck to all drivers and happy racing!
