As we learned last week, the GT-R NISMO is coming to Gran Turismo 6, and now we have another video which showcases how closely the two will be integrated with “Nissan NISMO Connect Plus” functionality.
Similar to the GPS Data Visualizer feature designed to work with a special version of the Toyota 86, NISMO Connect records telemetry and GPS location data from the car and then uses it to reproduce the laps inside the game’s environment (note the data can also be used by the NISMO Connect mobile app, as shown in the video, although this app is not associated with GT6).
See more articles on Nissan GT-R.
I liked that the phone had a GPS visualizer, as well. That looks like a solid beginning to a GPS visualizer for the track generator. :)
Hope so! We shall see! :)
Too bad, at minimum wage, there’s no way I can afford a GT-R.
You could always buy a Nissan Micra with the GPS visualizer. Kappa.
Well this feature is great in terms of advertising the GT brand to the world, obviously most people will never use it however it does give us an idea of how the GT6 version of this tech might work. I think the GPS track maker will maybe give you a selection of terrain that you want your recorded journey to appear in. GT7 on the PS4 could offer something quite different though, could they somehow generate 3D images from 2D google maps data? now that would be cool.
Everyone seems to just think of this tech in terms of either data visualization or the course maker. Things that imo aren’t going to be game changers, so to speak, for the end user just because of limited access and cost of entry. Personally I see this tech being used in a much more simple way that could benefit the average end user (all of them with online), pretty much right away. That is to use this tech to put real life famous racer’s ghost laps into the game to race against as seasonal events. Race Lewis Hamilton’s ghost at Silverstone, or Jeff Gordon’s at Indy for examples. Sure, they’ll probably be easy because we as gamers don’t have the fear of death, but it would still be a kool feature for seasonals and probably pretty easy to do with this tech.
The only question is would you pay $151,000 to maybe get the chance to use this GT6 feature maybe once if by chance you one day get to drive Willow Springs in it?…. I here resounding crickets.
Its actually 164,780 equipped with the Titanium exhaust option like mine. that is the issue though currently only 4 tracks you could technically even use here in the US. So hoping the course editor happens as I would like to see my GPS based telemetry from VIR
You would pay 150,000+ because you want to own a ridiculously quick Nissan GT-R, not because you want to use a feature in Gran Turismo.
This feature is aimed towards people that own GT-R’s and not Gran Turismo, rather than vice-versa. It’ll gain more relevancy in the Motorsport world, gaining a wider audience, and eventually it’ll circle back around to more people purchasing the game.
Would course maker even work for that though? The gps will help us put roads into the game, but I don’t know if course maker will just copy that to an in game course maker location or if it would actually identify and use it as Lime Rock. I tend to think it’s the 1st of those options but honestly we are all pretty in the dark there cus course maker will apparently be vastly different.
And Quakebass though that’s the thing, it’s not with interest of the players first, so they’re spending time on something that doesn’t even apply to 99.9% of players. You could look at it as trying to bring in a small demographic of potential future players, or is it alienating / losing the interest of that 99.9% of current players?
That alienation you are talking about Amac, I don’t drive in real life, so have no car which means the feature of the course creator and GPS data from whichever satnav is so much hot air for me – yet I don’t feel that alienation you are talking about.
I know I will be able to use other bits of said course creator when it gets here and that’s just fine by me – it’s a cool feature. Anyone complaining about it, likely has no soul ;)
@MeanElf Wow… I kinda liked you until you told people who don’t like it don’t have souls. I’m not alienated at the GPS feature or anything at all, I like it and somewhere in the very distant future (I’m not bore you to tears with that.) but I’m alienated at you. That comment you just made disgusts me even if it’s not directed towards me.
(Tenacious D comes in the convo) “But you don’t have a soul if you don’t fully like GT6/PD and that you like other games more…
Down with angry/excited fanboys like you both… I don’t plan on reading your replies so, don’t bother.
@ Brunetpacket That’s totally normal for him to attack people.. if anything, he just alienates himself. As for the tech, I think it is fantastic, and although I will probably never ever use it, I’m sure it will assist in developing tech that we will actually use in game – such as making courses in the upcoming coursemaker ;)
@Magic Ayrton On the other side, I definitely plan to. I’m sure you’ll have your chance… ;) but I ain’t gonna bore anyone to tear like I said in my previous post.
Course Maker and riding on my track online with people and seeing how they think it is will be very entertaining. From any well-knowledgeable players, people’s advice and of course… trolls, I’ll be basing my tracks so that good people have fun on my tracks and trolls fail. Paquet Ville won’t just be a dream anymore!
Paquet ville, hehe, very good, can’t wait to race my good fellow gentlemen there :D
The way its stated in my owners manual is the built in GPS in the car is for more than just running on a few tracks in GT6. it talks about hours or recording. Ive got a bit of an inside track to whats going on here. when the car is launched in game the USB stick based transfer is what will be directly for GT6. later in the fall they are going to roll out the app where you can monitor the same screens on the cars multi function display on your phone. This app is from Nissan themselves so I think this aspect of it is separate from the GT6 features. my hope is when the course editor someday goes live I can take my stored USB data and lay it over a matching course I created like an autocross track or maybe a back road
The technology in the car is here to stay so even if there isnt much right now I would except to use this on GT7 one day too
i guess course maker for this car would be you go out and run a local 5 mile road for instance with the GPS monitor on and then take that to the game. it would probably use something like we saw in GT5 where it generates an “eifel” type course based on the GPS data. you could then take your laps or point A to B data and overlay it with that generated course.
I cant wait to not watch this, or use the feature.
PD, you are useless.
I’m surprised that people aren’t the least bit intrigued by the bit at 1:55 where it recorded performance off-track and showed a travel route with google map data…
I was thinking that same thing @Quakebass
I’m starting to hope that the release of GT7 will also include a completion date of when they believe all the features they announced will be available. Oh the times they are a changin.
“Also include completion date”…what are you referring to because Gt6 never had a completion date.
Has the money for a NISMO GT-R, access to Fuji Speedway but hasn’t even bothered to unlocked online in GT6!!! Shameful! :)
that video was done by NISMO themselves in around march or February while they were benchmarking the N Attack Packge not PD
CeeJay – What are you talking about that online is not un-locked?
@ynot
If you watched the video, you would’ve seen that they didn’t have Online unlocked.
Plz take your head out your racing helmet Kaz and give us the game promised ages ago before new stuff gets added
You know because the economy is doing so well that everyone has the time and money to buy Nismo GT-rs and take them to tracks around the world!
Indeed ;-)
Soon*
Can only post as replies on mobile so sorry in advanced.
I feel like there are so many dissatisfied USA players, are any other country’s GT fans as upset? I spend about 80% of my earnings on European dealerships, American dealerships could definitely be expanded (INDYCar is what Forza makes me jealous of). Chevy gave many cars to GT so unless Forza bought exclusive licenses to a Bel-Air then I think it’s pointless to not add more Chevy and Ford (ford for competition). Cuz most of the online lobbies i see are almost entirely made of American drag.
*V-Tec drags…
WOW, another yawn topic. Been lots of these lately.
Still a beyond pointless feature that nobody will ever get to use. And even if I could afford the car for the feature I wouldn’t when I can get a Corvette that drives circles around it for less money.
dude look at the Nurburgring lap times the GTR is faster then the corvette…keep up
Maybe you should keep up, sir. The Circette’s Ring time is the old C6, not the current and faster C7, and when Corvette does a lap time with the C7 Z06 it will be faster. A base Corvette C7 drives circles around a base GT-R for less money, as will the Z06 around the Nismo.
Obvious typo on that first spelling of Corvette*
Just for price comparison btw, this Nismo GT-R goes for $151,000, while the Z06 Corvette will be about half that at $77,000
Last time I checked the zr1 was faster then the zo6 and if that’s still the case then you would won’t to compare the zr1 to the Nismo gtr not the zo6
And the zr1 was 184k and the nismo gtr is 151k and how do we know if the c7 zo6 is gonna beat the nismo gtr if neither of them has posted a time yet man I think you just like the corvette more then the gtr but I respect your opinion were all different
The basic 2007 gtr is 77k just like the zo6
Unless Nissan is willing to give me a GTR Nismo, I couldn’t care less!
Maybe you’ll get it as a present if you beat it’s record at the Nurburgring…
Would be funny if you tried and succeeded, then all you get is a super-special code to get a GT-R Black Edition for free in the game :D
So how about that course maker?
Don’t worry, we’re getting that -soon-.
Who cares,
PD may have had a little to do with this, but I doubt that they developed it in full.
So useless smh, wasting so much time on something 99% of us won’t be able to use.
The feature I’m excited about is the GPS based map creator. That should be a bunch of fun !
a pretty pointless feature for most people… but is pretty damn cool!
Can’t wait to do that at home with my own car.
So the GT-R Nismo we’re getting will actually just be a regular GT-R with a fully redesigned rear spoiler and body kit with a couple color changes? This is just sad. They even showed in GT6 a Nissan GT-R 2012 Black edition with a wheel change and body kit.
I can’t believe I’ll defend a GT-R… But yeah, this car is a bit different than the regular GT-R’s. Apparently it’s more track oriented, and has like 600hp. for the regular GT player, this means nothing since everyone tunes them to the max. For me that goes almost stock for everything, it’s kind of good news.
Yep. Just a fancy spoiler and body kit. The GT-R Nismo is totally not making more power and torque, and they definitely didn’t bother with the overall performance and handling. Nope.. Just a GT-R with a spoiler and bodykit.
That was very heavy sarcasm by the way.
This video was put out in mid August, just going to point that out…
Not too sure why my comment ended up here, sorry…
Oh yea buddy sure, just like any “AMG” is the same as a bog standard Mercedes..
Read car information provided by gt6, you will learn alot..
I meant that in one part of the video they clearly showed a regular GTR with a rear spoiler and body kit. They didn’t bother doing anything else on the car.
I wonder if that Nismo mobile app has any influence on the one that Polyphony is working on.
