Polyphony has just released a small update for the ongoing GT Sport closed beta, one that’s sure to have a big impact on races.
The latest update (1.08) weighs in at a relatively tiny 84MB. The new version introduces serious changes to the game’s damage model, ones which were hinted at in the game’s Goodwood build last weekend. Players will now find their cars affected by tire wear, car damage, and fuel depletion.
In addition, players will now receive time penalties if involved in collisions during races. The accompanying patch notes specify “certain conditions”, so some time behind the wheel should shed light on this. Ideally, it could help minimize instances of dirty drivers receiving little or no repercussions for their actions.
You can find the full patch notes below. As ever, make sure to keep an eye on the accompanying forum thread to keep up to date on any undocumented changes.
