The official FIA Gran Turismo Online Championship gets underway this week, and there’s a new set of GT Sport Daily Races to help give you a last-minute Driver Rating boost for the season. This week you’re heading to two of the world’s busiest cities, and relaxing in the Italian countryside.
Okay, perhaps not relaxing, as Race B takes you to the shortest and tightest of the Sardegna Road Track layouts and puts you into racing cars. It’s a seven-lap battle around Sardegna Road Track C, and in the reverse direction so the savage hairpin is the first turn. You’ll have free choice of any Gr.4 race car for the event, and there’s a good chance this race will have front-wheel drive cars as the majority choice.
Race C has some similar vibes, but coming at you a great deal quicker. The race takes place at the fictional Tokyo Expressway — albeit based on real sections of Tokyo’s Route C1 — around the fast East Outer Loop course, in Gr.3 machinery. This car class is equivalent to the real world’s GT3 category, with cars commonly sharing no more than a basic body shell and engine layout.
The ten-lap race will be a test of speed and precision, with most cars coming close to topping out along the high-speed main straight, and much of the rest of the track being one line only. You’ll need to swap tires during the race too, as both the Racing Medium and Racing Soft tire are mandatory; failure to do so will meet with a one-minute time penalty added to your final race time.
Finally, Race A will see you head to Barcelona, and the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. This F1 track will host a three-lap race for the Renault Sport Clio V6, a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive car loosely based on the front-engine, front-wheel drive Clio hatchback with a reputation for tricky handling. It’s a repeat of an event we saw last June, right down to the Sports Hard tire and grid start.
These three races will run through to Monday, April 26, when another new set of three will replace them.
