GT Sport Daily Races: The X Factor

The latest set of Gran Turismo Sport Daily Races starts today, with some extremely high speeds on the table. There’s three quite different races on offer this week, and the fastest will be the road car event.

That’s because we’re revisiting a race last seen in September 2020. It’s only a single-lap race, because you’re heading to the monstrous Special Stage Route X oval.

Coming in at nearly 19 miles long, Route X is the longest track in Gran Turismo history. It’s also the least complicated, as you won’t need to brake at all even though speeds will hit 240mph. The race will provide you with a Ford GT ’06, and you’ll need to play a tight, slipstreaming race and break for the lead at exactly the right time to win.

Race B is a classic GT Sport combo, dating back even as far as the beta. It’s a four-lap sprint race in the Gr.3 cars around the Dragon Trail Seaside circuit, with free choice of machinery. Just pick your preferred Gr.3 car and go racing.

Unusually it’s the slower Gr.4 cars for the longer Race C this week. You’ll be heading to the Nurburgring, and running two laps of the full 24-hour circuit. Even though it’s only a two-lap race, there’s a strategy consideration.

The Racing Hard tires are mandatory — you must use them during the race at some point or face a one minute post-race time penalty — but players also have the choice of the Racing Mediums. That means either no-stopping on hards or using the softer rubber to offset a pit stop at half distance. The 8x tire wear and 7x fuel consumption will also factor into the decision.

These three races will run through to Monday, May 24, when another new set of three will replace them.
