GT Sport Daily Races: Fact or Fiction

A new set of Gran Turismo Sport Daily Races is now available for the coming week, and unusually all three races take place on one of the game’s fictional circuits — ranging from the very simple to the highly complex.

Race A takes you to one of the most basic circuits in the game, with the Miyabi track at the Kyoto Driving Park. Depending on the car used, this is a course that can have just one braking zone, coming late in the lap, though in this week’s vehicle you might like to at least lift for the first turn.

The car you’ll be driving in this week’s eight-lap race is the Mazda Roadster Touring Car. Based on the original Mk1/NA Mazda MX-5 (or Mazda Miata, or Eunos Roadster), it’s a stripped back, caged model with a dose of extra power which looks every bit the race car — though it fits into the game’s N200 class for road cars.

Meanwhile Race B will whisk you the the fictional Croatian venue of Dragon Trail, and the more recent Gardens circuit. The track’s centerpiece is a four-apex turn, which this week you’ll be taking as an anti-clockwise corner as the race runs in the reverse direction.

You’ll be driving four laps in your choice of Gr.4 car. These are usually cars based on road cars but with everything unnecessary stripped out and a few race-grade components bolted on — including basic aerodynamics and racing tires — though one of the leading cars this week will be the Renault Sport Megane V6, which was built as a one-make race car.

Finally Race C takes players to the rarely used Circuit de Sainte-Croix. It’s the second time we’ve seen the fictional French circuit, set in the Provence region, turn up in recent weeks after a long absence, and this week you’ll be driving the A variant in the reverse layout.

As it’s a long track, there’s only enough time for six laps event in the Gr.3 cars; the in-game equivalent to GT3. Though the class is among the most closely matched, the wide open spaces of Sainte-Croix often mean it’s a power circuit. With no pit stops to worry about this week — tire wear is set as a 6x multiplier, and Racing Hard is the only option — you’ll likely see some fairly consistent grids.

These three races will run through to Monday August 30, when another set will replace them.

I played GT5 and loved it. I fell in love with Lotus and if you know your car history its not just the race built Lotus or the models produced. Its the importance of Lotus as a manufacture with a long pedigree of inovation which includes contractual development for many other manufacturers. The importance of Lotus can not be dismissed nore the number of podiums Lotus designs have contributed to if not won outright.
While waiting for delivery of my new Lotus Evora i purchased GT Sport figuring I’d duplicate my car in the game……
I was wrong and any chaĺlange that does not allow you to pit your car against a Lotus that exist in the same class is about as robust as a diet drink. No matter how good you know somthing sweetvis missing.

I couldn’t agree more and it’s so annoying to not have Lotus in GT Sport. Especially when the beta did have lotus in it. But lotus is too important to not have in a racing game. Also, GT needs the classic lotus F1 cars that are in many other racing games like the Lotus 49, 79, 97T, etc.

Gt sport is just giving lip service to the online racing in 2-3 months. I don’t know why they persist, they should just shut it done if they are not going to give it the time players deserve.

2 weeks now of crap races .. seriously wondering why I play gt. Remember when c races used to be good with fuel and tire strategy. This game just gets worse. The only saving grace for me is gt7 will finally get some good Porsches

Uh, we had race A not long ago…like, literally identical. It was fun, don’t get me wrong.

I might give race B a good go, I love that track.
