GT Sport Daily Races: Orient Express

Although much of the world is changing its clocks this week, the new set of Gran Turismo Sport Daily Races is right on time as usual. This week’s three races will see players tackling two tracks in Japan, and going flat-out in Italy for the next seven days.

For Race A this week you’ll be heading to a fictional circuit consisting of real sections of Tokyo’s famous C1 Loop, knitted together to form the Tokyo Expressway. There’s several different layouts, with the chosen track this week being the squared-off Central course, in the regular, clockwise Outer Loop layout.

It’s a one-make event this time round, with players racing the Audi TTS Coupe. That makes life easy, as all you need to do is pick a color and then head out for the five-lap race on the standard-fit Sports Hard tires.

Things are a little more complex in Race B, as you’ll need to choose a Gr.3 car from your stable for the race. That said, you might be forced into one of a very small handful of cars by the nature of the circuit.

The race takes place at Italy’s famous Monza circuit, but you’ll be driving the version which skips out the first chicane — Variante del Rettifilo — which will make for some very high speeds in the four-lap race. That means you’ll need a Gr.3 car with legs, and it’s no surprise to see the McLaren F1 filling much of the leaderboard at this early stage.

Our final race for the week puts players into the very fast Gr.1 cars, consisting of a mixture of old Group C machines, modern LMP1/LMP1-H cars, and a couple of fictional vehicles inspired by the LMP1 design and specification.

Ultimate speed won’t be a priority this week, as you’ll be racing for ten laps of the Suzuka Circuit. This is a highly technical course, which will likely see cars with more available downforce dominating, though the 7x tire wear multiplier will make the race feel like 70 laps for your rubber.

Tires will be made an even more important factor by the fact there’s a mandated swap. Players will need to use both the Racing Medium and the Racing Soft during the race, or face a one-minute penalty in the final classification. Of course how you choose to use the two compounds is up to you.

These three races will run through to Monday November 8, when another set will replace them.
