Released for free download through GTTV, a new 30 minute documentary details the exploits of Polyphony Digital studio head Kazunori Yamauchi as he competed in his second Nürburgring 24 Hour race in 2011:
In the Gran Turismo TV section of Gran Turismo 5, a free program “Racing at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring 2011” has been released.
The ‘Nürburgring 24 hour race’ is the world’s largest touring car event. Kazunori Yamauchi has returned to this extreme race, driven on the combined Grand Prix course and Nordschleife of the Nürburgring.
This year he is participating from a private team, Schulze Motorsports. The car is the R35 GT-R, which is challenging the Nürburgring 24 hour race for the first time since its release. See the close battle against the works teams of Volkswagen in the SP8T class, and the first class victory of the Nissan GT-R attained by Schulze Motorsports and Kazunori Yamauchi.
Combining aerial shots as well as exciting in-car cameras, this program covers the 24 hours of Nürburgring driven by Kazunori Yamauchi.
The documentary is available in two parts and includes footage of testing and qualifying alongside spectacular race action, interviews with various team heads including Mario Thiessen (BMW), Olaf Manthey (Manthey Racing) and Wolfgang Ulrich (Audi) and in-car footage of all of the Schulze Motorsports drivers over the gruelling 24 hour race.

I really want to like the Nissan GT-R but Gran Turismo is seriously making me hate the GT-R and it’s Skyline counterparts. There are infinite versions of the car in the game and in every DLC pack there’s an alternate or new version of the car. They always release something GT-R related. Now there’s this video and overall more crap about the GT-R.
Meh whatever, I’ve already made a resolution not to buy any DLC’s that have any Nissan’s in them unless the DLC also has worthwhile brands like maybe an Audi, Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Mercedes, Pagani.
All those companies I’ve named have released REALLY exciting models over the past 1.5 years but NONE of them are in GT5.
We will get more GT-R’s though. You can never have enough GT-R’s…..

guys its KAZUNORI YAMAUCHI sharing his experience for GT fans. if he drive that Porsche of course we got the same higlights. grow up Madracer
Yea, that’s exactly it. It isn’t anything biased towards the Nissan, it’s what you said, Kaz sharing his experience and telling his oppinion on the event.
Can someone send me a link to see the video? My PS3 broke :(
They’re really milking that, it was ages ago.
If they were “milking it” it would have cost something. It’s free, so nothing is being milked.
Peepz, we need this GOLF24 :) amazing car.
I’m gonna watch this later, hope it’s interesting like the last one
Found it on Youtube…
Forgive me if I’ve missed the link somewhere but how do I download/see the documentary?
Through Gran Turismo TV – it’s the fourth icon along on your GT5 main screen.
you see it through the game’s GT-TV on your PS3
Hurray for Kaz, our hero. :D
Really enjoyed watching Kaz being involved again in this amazing event. He is such a good man for what he done for the gaming community and seeing him taking part in real world competition gives me lots of hope for the future development of his wonderful Gran Turismo series.
I downloaded this nearly right when it became available. All of the HD footage is very nice, but that narrator is so boring to listen to hahahaha. However, the overall production value is okay and is definitely worth watching.
@madracer (n) (second comment)
Wow, nice of Kaz to make a documentary ! (y)
But I wanna see a Documentary of the LeMans 24 hrs.:D
its an awesome free watch!! thank you Kaz / PD
Downloaded, but not watched as yet. There is always tomorrow :)P
..or next year.
I’m in the same boat.
Everything in this game is late, or a revised copy of something we have already….i.e nissan skyline/gtr………where are all the new race cars from the last few years mclaren mp4 gt2, ascari gt2, 430 and 458 gt2, lambo gtr, maserati mc12, saleen, mosler, lotus esprit race car, aston martin dbr9, audi and lola LMPs??????……..but hey, at least we go an old video of kazanouri enjoying his money that we can watch. happy new year.
The worst thing about this post is you think you are cool as hell and funny , you failed
Fool… if anybody in this world deserves to enjoy a racing event, it’s the man who has brought millions of people the joy of racing into their living room.
@LeeMoldon Ouch you got burn… But seriously, your post isn’t funny. I agree with both tofudrifter and occasionalracer.
I wasn’t trying to be funny???……you assumed wrong and therefore have failed yourselves! Lookout for a smiley face or something next time cretins!
They assumed you were joking because if you were being serious you sound like an idiot. So they actually gave you the benefit of the doubt.
that seems a little bit late to post this…
Is the documentary in Japanese or English?
@Blessorship, it’s narrated in english, intervews are conducted in the language of the person being interviewed, then explained in english after.
Nice, I’ll look forward to watching that.
Wow. That’s pretty BA!
That race was done too long ago – We are almost in 2012….So much attention around this GT-R – How about the overall victory car??? Porsche 911 (Nissan Rival) – So let’s pay more attention to the GT-R that won to the Golfs… LOL How about Spa 24H documentary???
@madracer, the Porsche was not a direct competitor, try getting your facts straight before making yourself look like even more of a douche.
@madracer Ok for your information: 1. This is a site about GT5, 2. it’s a half year ago so not that long for a documentary. And 3. This car was recently put up for sale, so it’s pretty damn nice to see a documentary about it…
God I can’t belive how ingnorant some ppl are on the internet…
@madracer, they clearly state they are in direct competition with the Golfs, not the Porche.
Yea. 1st time ever a GTR participated in a 24h of Nürburgring, and it’s a really good accomplishment to win within it’s own class in a 1st participation. Oh, and Porsche wasn’t Nissan’s rival, as it wasn’t even in the same class.
If you read and think before you take conclusions you would see what I meant – Overall Winner – That means the car that won the race – It deserve some credit or a documentary as well. And yes, the facts are straight – Nissan was in the golfs category but in real life Nissan is trying to take Porsche’s domain. Probably that’s why they don’t said anything about the winner car.
Vortex1be – Not everything that’s gone on sale is a great thing…
@madracer Then you should have think twice with your comment first then…
We might be into 2012 but as far as I know if you’re reviewing an event, it isn’t outdated until the next one occurs and that won’t happen till late Spring 2012.
And as to the car- this is GT5. Had this been SHIFT or NFS, Porsche would take centre stage but the sole purpose of GTTV is to show program that is related to the game and showing Kazunori driving a car that’s in the game fit the bill quite well. Besides Porsche isn’t dire for publicity.
