The third and final online race in the 2022 GT World Series Manufacturers Cup will broadcast this weekend, on Sunday November 6.
It’s the last chance for the brands to earn World Series points before they head into the live World Final later this month, with the marque that scores the most across all five rounds of the championship — three online rounds, the World Series Showdown, and the final itself — taking the 2022 title.
Thus far it’s been a tale of Japanese supremacy, with Subaru taking wins at Watkins Glen in Round 1 and at Trial Mountain in the Showdown, before Toyota finally converted a pole position to victory at Spa-Francorchamps in Round 2.
The results to date mean that Subaru leads the way in the championship and will head into the Final in that number one spot even if Toyota manages another win to tie up the points:
Current Standings
- Subaru – 10 points
- Toyota – 7 points
- Mazda – 5 points
- Mercedes-AMG – 5 points
- Nissan – 3 points
- Genesis – 2 points
- Volkswagen – 1 point
This final online round heads to the new Gran Turismo 7 circuit of Deep Forest Raceway, a reworked version of the fan favorite track from the first six Gran Turismo games.
It’s a 16-lap race of the track for the brands’ Gr.3 machinery, with drivers required to use both Racing Medium and Racing Soft tires. There’s a high, 6x tire wear rate — so tires wear six times faster — and a 3x fuel consumption rate, which may play into the hands of Subaru and Mazda. That said, Toyota won at Spa with a higher fuel consumption factor, and the steep climbs at Deep Forest may suit it better.
There’s a few changes of personnel this weekend too. Most notably Igor Fraga — who has scored pole position in all three races to date — will be replaced by former Asia-Oceania champion Ryota Kokubun at Toyota.
Lucas Bonelli, Nations Cup winner at Watkins Glen, replaces Baptiste Beauvois at AMG also. Mehdi Hafidi comes back in at Nissan in place of Harald Walsen, while Arthur Mosso comes in for Joss Legrand at Mitsubishi. Jaguar is absent altogether, although it’s not clear why.
You’ll need to bear that in mind if you’re taking part in the “Bonus Campaign“. Players can enter their guesses for who will take victory through this special in-game portal called; pick the winner and you’ll earn 500,000cr for your GT7 bank balance.
The race will broadcast at 1300 UTC on Sunday November 6, with the corresponding Nations Cup show coming a week later on Sunday November 13.
