With two weeks to go until the final live preliminary round of the 2024 Gran Turismo World Series, Polyphony Digital has revealed that the Viewers Gift and Predict the Winners campaigns will once again be available — and what rewards you can win for taking part.
Now in their third year, these two special promotions insert some audience participation into the live events. The two campaigns between them offer rewards worth the equivalent almost five million credits for your Gran Turismo 7 game save, though you will require some good fortune to take all of that.
This time round the Viewers Gift campaign is offering a pair of classic Japanese race cars, and you need only tune into the two live streams — through the special, in-game tile — to pick up the pair of them. You don’t actually need to watch any of the stream this way, as merely clicking on the “Watch Stream” button is enough to register.
You’ve got nearly a week to do this too. So long as you click any time before 1459 UTC on Friday October 4, you’ll receive the rewards — although you’ll get them earlier if you watch on the day. Watching the Manufacturers Cup earns you the Mazda 787B — which is currently valued at 1.9m credits if you want to sell it — while there’s the 2008 GT500-class Nissan GT-R for watching the Nations Cup.
There’s two credit ticket rewards too, but you’ll need your very best fortune-telling powers if you want to earn them.
That’s because you’ll need to predict which two drivers will win their respective final races, selecting one each from the twelve Manufacturers Cup brands and the twelve Nations Cup drivers. Form is important in the latter, as the driver field is identical across the season, but not so for Manufacturers Cup which sees the Asia-Oceania drivers taking their seats this time round.
You’ve got the opportunity to see them in action first though. Entries for both events can be placed any time up to the start of the final race — 22 laps at Bathurst in Manufacturers, 27 laps in X2019s at Grand Valley in Nations — so you can watch qualifying and the Nations qualifying race first.
For each correct pick you make you’ll receive a 1,000,000cr ticket, delivered to your Gran Turismo 7 Garage, in the Gifts section. These, and the early bird Viewers Campaign car tickets, will be distributed on Monday September 30.
The streams themselves begin at 0800 UTC for Manufacturers Cup and 1100 UTC for Nations Cup, live from the Theater Milano-za in Tokyo Kabukicho Tower on Saturday September 28. It’s a sell-out event too, so we’re expecting a passionate crowd!
