GT6 players were met with a short Maintenance period earlier this week, after which the game moved up to v1.22. Barely tipping the scale at 35 MB, the update fixes a known exploit in Career Mode, where previously-suspended Championships could be restarted on a User-Created Course.
Interestingly enough, forum member @Whistlesnap has found evidence of two cars being added to the game: the 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, and Toyota’s tiny S-FR. Both of these were on display at the Tokyo Motor Show back in October, and the S-FR was even playable in a special build of Gran Turismo 6.
On Polyphony Digital’s own Pitstop blog during the auto show, it was clearly stated that the Nissan would not be arriving in Gran Turismo 6, while the Toyota was earmarked for “inclusion in a future version of the Gran Turismo series”. The inclusion of the cars in the game’s code does not guarantee their presence in a future update – Whistlesnap has said that no car models are present – but it’s a curious feature of Update 1.22.
As ever, swing by our Gran Turismo 6 section to talk about this and other news.

What about the rest of the unreleased VGT’s ???
The lack of 3D models for these cars seems to indicate more that these cars were removed, rather than intended to be included. Seems PDI may need investing in a better janitor if this was indeed the case.
I wonder why the error at Sierra hasn ´t been fixed yet.
What error?
I can’t put any faith into something that “might be” in the game or not. I do hope that they will continue to add more to this game, especially since I can’t afford a PS4 until I get back to work again. If not, I think I may hang it up for Gran Turismo. I’m getting too old to be dealing with these kinds of things…
This makes me think PD might keep developping GT6 while GT Sport will be there… Not sure. Just random thinking. I mean, there’s a bunch of Vision GTs remaining to unveil.
We’ll see… hey, maybe they’ll release in GT Sport along with their GT6 version? Once again, just random thinking.
Spring 2016 is not that far, but just imo. I mean it, *just* in my opinion.
Having to work on the content to make it available for both current gen and past gen doesn’t seem like the best route. Would be nice, but not likely.
True. Still, 4 (March)/5 (April) or very big max 6 months (May) or even 7 (June) from now… I wonder how they’ll get all the remaining VGTs out.
We’ll see. Oh and sorry for the stupid thing I pulled the other time. I apologize.
The time choice of this GTP news posting just says it all..
A patch was released, and what do I get to see here? Forza news..
Don’t get me wrong, I have learned to love and embrace Forza :)
No “undocumented changes” thread in the GT6 forums at all. The discussion about the patch was held in a speculative “Will we or will we not get update.” thread.
“Found evidence”, hmmm. Two entries about cars, that might or might not show up in the game. I have found evidence of courses being planned for GT6 that have been scrapped later. But I never felt the necessity to share their names with a broader public.
These things are really just an evidence, but not a proof of content making its way to the game.
I think they’re more to be seen like leftovers from an incomplete cleaning.
Right now, it would even make total sense to me that GT6 “development/qa/testing/whatever it takes for a patch release” is done by a single guy..
For me, GT is dead.
I’m not exactly sure what you’re talking about but I can guarantee you that when Forza 6 is as old as GT6, there will be absolutely no news of it at all.
So GT is dead to you because they didn’t release a content update? What?!
Wallpaper42 when Forza 6 is as old as GT6 is now (roughly 2 years old), there’ll most likley be a Forza 7 getting plenty of news…
Boffin for the win right there. In before someone says they’d rather have a 2 year old game that’s still free with free DLC, even if it’s non-existant, as opposed to a brand new game they would have to pay for.
@Boffin True but I wasn’t trying to knock Forza, just the weird ideology that GT is dead because a two year old game doesn’t get as much news as a 3 month old game…
Well then your point has been lost on me, because of course there would be no news about FM6 if the next iteration is already out. Another fact is that the news for Forza is minuscule in comparison to the amount of articles that pop up for GT. So I’m not sure where that was going.
TeamCZRRacing, you seem to go after anyone that doesn’t seem to like GT, even if it’s not in support of Forza. Why? He has a sound reason for why he thinks it’s dead to him; lack of information, not much coming to the game in terms of content, content being planned that never made it, or lack of worthwhile updates in general. How is it difficult to understand, considering the game is old, as well?
Lol of course the point is lost on you.
It was lost on anyone, as it’s a no brainer that a game and it’s content wouldn’t be talked about when it’s next iteration is in.
Yes of course. Yet here we are with the next iteration of GT announced but GT is dead because GT6 got a patch that not many people are talking about.
So with that logic if Forza 6 gets a patch that no one notices after Forza 7 has been announced or is already released then Forza must be dead. Pretty silly huh?
That’s all I’m trying to say, not trying to upset you Forza enthusiasts. Honest.
The next iteration of GT is likely more than a year away. Read his actual post, his problem is not that people didn’t notice it, it’s actually alot more in that post then the last 5 words. It is dead to him for a number of things, none of which are because there was little news on the update.
Forza 6 won’t get a patch after Forza 7 releases. There would be no point for that if the new game is already released. You point, like I said, is lost on pretty much anyone that read it, and even after the explanation is still so far disconnected that I’m not sure how we were supposed to get that from your initial retort.
With that said, that is his current stance on the situation. Their track record is a problem it seems he has a problem with. So yes, GT is dead for him, and to try to tell him that the game is not dead to him is ridiculous.
I should have made myself a bit clearer then.
I was totally baffled with, that a GT6 patch was released and it wasn’t announced here on the front page “in time”.
There even wasn’t the usual threads like “undocumented changes” for it.
I do remember times, when the pure announcement of a two hour maintenance window created threads of X pages with pure speculation about what to expect.
@wallpaper42:
I hope I was a bit clearer now. It’s not about the fact that GT6 is more than 3 months old, but more about my whole disappointment with how it turned out.
See below..
@TeamCZRRaing:
GT is dead to me, as I was DEEPLY disappointed with how GT6 turned out. Although I have a PS4, I won’t buy any PD released software on day one again. These times are over for me..
@Boffin:
Thank you sir :)
@ImaRobot:
Thank you sir for reading between some of my “weird” lines of comments. You are in fact spot on with, that GT is dead for me for a number of things. I just shouldn’t rant about them.
It’s absolutely not about the evidents I’ve seen on further tracks. But way more..
But that’s nothing I’d like to discuss further on the front page.
Im honestly getting fed up with nissan. Oh no don’t bring the new Bugatti or Hyundai… give us a second version of the nissan that no one is going to use and hasn’t really changed except now you can obtain a matte red paintjob.
However props for adding (in the future), the new toyota sfr.
A special build?.or test motion simulater rig…..
Should have been just a hotfix.
I am not sure why people keep calling this a hotfix.
It was a full software update. It required you to download to another version. Which is 1.22.
“Should have been…. ” its not the same as “Must have been….”
It’s 35 Mb…in terms of patches they don’t often come smaller than that.
Fair enough Johnny.
