A new set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races is available today, bringing three new races to cover what we’d expect to be the week ahead.
The “BOP” — Balance of Performance — races continue, with all three events using the this method for equalizing car performance. It’s a technique used in real world races, setting power and weight to a specific value for each car to ensure similar pace on a given track, though in Gran Turismo it applies across all circuits and locks down vehicle settings too.
Race A sees players offered a choice of two vehicles from their own garage: the Toyota Corolla Levin and Toyota Sprinter Trueno twins.
The latter car is currently available in the Used Car Dealership — although we don’t know for how long that will last, so grab it while you can — while the former is a reward for completing GT Cafe’s Menu Book 10 (and a possible prize for Menu Book 9).
Whichever of the two you pick, you’ll have a six-lap race of the Suzuka Circuit East Course, consisting of the Esses section before cutting back to the main straight, on Comfort Medium tires. That should mean plenty of sliding about in these drift icons.
Unusually, both of the remaining races this week use the same car type. You’ll need any Gr.3 car to race in either event, and as you’ll by now be racing in the Test Season 2 you should have access to a free Gr.3 on loan from your chosen manufacturer.
Also odd is the fact that both events also feature strong tire wear, set at a 10x. It’s been a feature throughout GT Sport and GT7 so far that Race B is a sprint race without tire wear or fuel consumption, so this is quite a departure.
It is still a shorter event though, taking place at Deep Forest Raceway over just five laps. That means that the tire wear is unlikely to affect matters, or even provoke any kind of strategy, as the Racing Hard tires used here won’t notice that kind of distance even with a 10x multiplier.
Race C might be a little different though. It’s only eight laps long, but it does visit the fearsome Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
Eight laps — or 80 from the point of view of your tires — might leave the Racing Hards feeling distinctly second-hand, but there’s also fuel consumption to contend with. This is set at 7x for the second week in a row, meaning your fuel will drain at seven times the normal rate; a pit stop to refill the tank will probably be required.
In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub.
Although the Daily Races are intended to “update at irregular intervals”, thus far they have matched GT Sport’s regular offerings, with a new set arriving each Monday. As a result we’d anticipate a refresh on Monday April 11.
