Gran Turismo 7 Missing from PS5 Pro Enhanced Game Launch List

With the upgraded PlayStation 5 Pro console set to launch later this week, the PlayStation Blog has released a list of 55 titles that will have “enhanced” compatibility on day one — with Gran Turismo 7 a surprise absence from the list.

GT7 was one of the small handful of titles that was used to promote the new console in the first gameplay reveals earlier this year, with the game going on to have playable “PS5 Pro Enhanced” versions both for media at special events and at the Tokyo Games Show just over a month ago.

We’ve already seen GT7 running on the PlayStation 5 Pro in 4K60 with ray tracing enabled, and it’s available in 8K60 as well — using the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaler to bump the resolution without sacrificing the frame rate.

However it looks like the public release of the “PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced” patch isn’t quite ready yet. Certainly we’d have expected some word on the update by now if it were going to make it in time for the November 7 launch of the console, but the usual pre-update pathways are quiet. Indeed GT7 doesn’t yet have the “Pro Enhanced” badging on its PlayStation Store listings either.

In the previous PS Blog post dealing with all things Pro it was noted that Polyphony Digital was “targeting a November release” for the GT7 Pro Enhanced update, and we did comment on the approximate timing of that. While it obviously made the most sense to anticipate a console launch-day update — GT7 was, after all, a PS VR2 launch title — it wasn’t necessarily going to be the case. GT7 updates also tend to be in the final week of any given month.

With or without the update, you will still be able to play GT7 on your new PlayStation 5 Pro, and it should benefit from having significantly more power available, but it won’t have the specific enhancements previously detailed.

Racing game fans will still be able to enjoy some PS5 Pro Enhanced titles though, as both F1 24 and — perhaps surprisingly — Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown’s latest game versions include Pro-specific upgrades.

We’ll bring you more on the next GT7 game update when we have it, so keep watching this space!
