Gran Turismo 7 to Star in Its Own Special State of Play Event on February 2

PlayStation is set to broadcast a special State of Play event this coming Wednesday, February 2, dedicated to Gran Turismo 7.

The 30-minute event will play across all of PlayStation’s social channels, including Twitch and YouTube, starting at 2200 UTC (convert to your time here) on February 2.

There’s very little information on what’s actually going to be in the broadcast at this point in time. An official post on the PlayStation Blog only states that there’ll be an “in-depth look at the modes and features of GT7“, with new PS5 footage and gameplay.

Updated: Kazunori Yamauchi has since Tweeted that “the whole picture of Gran Turismo 7 will be released”.

However PlayStation has also put out a brief promotional video too, which consists entirely of new clips of the title and you can see in the Tweet below:

While brief, the sequence does reveal a few additional vehicles, including the returning Maserati Gran Turismo S and Ferrari F40. There’s also a couple of new-to-series cars, with the third-gen Ford Focus RS appearing briefly in shot and what looks like Ferrari Testarossa in a new angle of Deep Forest.

Interestingly, there’s also a Nissan Silvia S15 in touring car configuration, which could signify a return of the “RM” car seen in Gran Turismo 5 and Gran Turismo 6, though it’s a different design from that vehicle.

We don’t get to see any footage of new circuits, so we’re still waiting to see if Apricot Hill will arrive as teased in videos over the last couple of months, and to find out the identity of the most recent mystery track.

Like many others, we’re pretty eager to see how GT7’s new career mode will play, so we’ll be tuning in this Wednesday!
