The latest update for Gran Turismo 7, v1.12, is now available, weighing in at 312.5MB on PlayStation 5 and around 160MB on PlayStation 4.
As you can probably tell from the relatively compact size, it doesn’t bring any fresh content to the game, making it likely we’ll have to wait a week or two before the first post-launch content arrives.
Instead the update focuses on fixing a couple of bugs, one of which seemed to affect some players following the v1.11 update on April 7. This deals with Brand Central Invitations.
If you’re not familiar with GT7’s car buying processes, there’s four ways you can buy one of the 424 cars in the game. You can purchase almost anything from 2001 and on at any time in Brand Central, with older cars (and some used versions of cars from 2001 and on) appearing on rotation in Used Cars. Certain high-value classics appear on rotation in Legends Cars.
That leaves Invitations, which covers 10 exclusive cars from Aston Martin, Bugatti, Citroen, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, and Porsche. You can’t just go and buy these vehicles in Brand Central, you need an Invitation to do so — mimicking the exclusivity sometimes applied to cars in real life.
These Invitations come via awards from Roulette tickets, and also seemingly at random from other game processes that aren’t yet clear. They’re time-limited though, so once they expire you’ll be waiting a while to get another.
Some players may have found that the v1.11 update wiped their Invitations regardless of time remaining. The v1.12 update fixes this issue and also gives Invitations for all 10 cars to all players, allowing everyone 30 days to scrape together the necessary funds to buy the exclusive fleet which costs 22.6m credits combined.
A second issue regarding background music not playing appropriately has also been addressed in the update.
