GTPlanet Community Spotlight: Battle of the Unreleased Features!

14235754992_2e15f368e4_c

It’s not everyday you find yourself browsing countless threads, countless galleries, and a countless number of user posts looking for those that stimulate intelligent and thoughtful discussion, are helpful, and everyone walks away knowing more than they did beforehand. It’s no easy task looking for members that present themselves in such a fashion to the community at large that they stand out among that same community – and there’s where this new feature comes in. Someone has to make sure some of the very best that GTPlanet has to offer is highlighted in a consistent and well laid-out fashion.

Let’s all direct our attention and flood these next pieces with even more intelligent discussion and debate, and foster the creation of more pieces that fit the bill!

This fantastic picture comes to us courtesy of RL_23 and features the meticulously detailed interior of the Pagani Huayra in Driveclub for the PlayStation 4.

If you like what you’re seeing and have a suggestion for next week’s featured image, start a conversation with me (drop me a private message for those of you still referring to it as such), entitle it “GTPlanet Picture of the Week” and fill it to your heart’s content with suggestions and they’ll be featured in upcoming Community Spotlight articles. GTPlanet Gallery of the Week

This segment takes the concept of the “Picture of the Week” and goes one further by celebrating an entire user gallery. However, this is in no way, shape, or form limited to the various photomode galleries for the many games that host this feature.

This week’s inaugural gallery is FJ’s Gallery brought to us by, who else, ffjjbb. Opened on the 30th of December in 2013, FJ’s Gallery approaches GTPhotography with a bit of a minimalistic touch, as in you know exactly what the focus of the photo and/or the subject matter is and nothing is extraneous. You can find FJ’s gallery in all of its glory right here, with the latest update being just this past Monday after a 4-month long hiatus.

GTPlanet Thread of the Week – Unreleased Feature Battle!

What’s the one feature missing from Gran Turismo 6 that’s in the works and would bring forth an entirely different perception of the game; changing the entire landscape as it were and making it feel brand new as if just purchased?

There’s one feature I can think of and that is the KW Suspension Testing System. Something that would have allowed me to continually test and tweak my suspension settings for the optimal conditions seems like something that shouldn’t have been taken out with little to no rhyme or reason. If it is to return one day I know I’d be more than happy to delve into it and see what kind of monstrous concoctions I could create. Even if the feature was but a niche novelty who knows what kind of factor it would have had for the long-term fun factor of the game.

The thread, started by our very own FrzGT, is asking the GTPlanet community what they’re looking forward to that would make GT6 feel brand new again. Make your way into the thread and share your opinions. I can already hear the uproar for the still-anticipated Course Maker.

GTPlanet Member of the Week

You didn’t very well expect a community spotlight article to not put this back on the front page where it belongs, did you? Of course not because the prized status and stardom that only the Member of the Week can bring has returned home!

The time to acknowledge a member of the GTPlanet community is upon us; a member who has stood out among the hundreds of thousands of members already here, both old and new alike for all that they’re worth and all they have contributed to the community.

This week’s inductee was nominated in a most grand fashion by their peers (with the nominations still coming in last I checked my poor inbox) and is, as everyone has informed, one of the most helpful and insightful contributors to the SNAIL movement. Let’s give a most warm welcome to the newest member to find vacancy in the ever-growing Member of the Week madhouse, Dragonwhisky!

You can read the full interview in the official thread right here!

The Worst Drives

Gran Turismo 6

This is a really interesting topic thought up by our very own JASON_ROCKS1998 and asks a very simple question: “What is the worst car you have driven in GT, and what game has the worst version.”

On recent memory alone, it would have to be the Enzo Ferrari for me in GT5. No matter what you did to the suspension, no matter what you did to the aerodynamic settings, no matter what you did to anything it would just find a way to grossly understeer into a barricade or the grass. I didn’t even bother with it in 6 so I have no idea if it drives better.

What’s the worst car you’ve driven in a Gran Turismo title? Stop by the thread here and let everyone know!

GTPlanet Tune of the Week

9722683360_9ecc5718d1_z

This week’s featured tune is not the usually featured tune at all, instead we’re doing something a little bit differently this time. This thread, created by Bowtie-muscle is a community effort to tune/tame the Car of the Month, and this month’s car is the 2002 Saleen S7.

Welcome to the Car of the Month for February, up until now, I have not really had a DIFFICULT Car of the Month. Unless you consider the GT-R LM Road Going Version or the Callaway. Tough, but not difficult. This month we will see if ANYONE can tame this mare. It can be a handful with stock power, add more at your own risk. This should be quite the challenge, are you ready to stare down the monster and turn it into a puppy? Let’s find out.

Can you curb the S7’s flirtatious rear end turn it into a dangerous track machine? If you think you have what it takes you’ll definitely want to stop by the thread and post your work!

Favorite Real-Life Track

With the fantastic real-life locations featured in GT6, there’s plenty to choose from – but which one is your favorite? Stop by the thread and let us know what your favorite real-life track is!

The Last Lap

That about does it for this week’s Community Spotlight and I don’t have the life left in me to write anymore than this. Shine the spotlight!

I’ll have a better exit phrase next week, I promise.

You featured my Favorite Real Life Track thread in the end! Awesome , and thanks for exposing the members of this community in such a great way T-12!

  2. Justin

I like this idea a little better than the rewind as it focuses more on the community.

Nice job T-12. Hopefully you have solved your Destiny problem and can give this the attention it needs.

    1. Jordan

Hopefully it can become a regular feature. If you like it, please show your support here and send suggestions to the author, @Terronium-12. This is a big place and there’s lots of great threads, topics, and people in our community who deserve the spotlight.

I’m glad that the weekly rewind is back, I was really missing that weekly digest of everything that’s going on here on GTPlanet
