GTPlanet’s Weekly Race Series heads to Europe this week for a fun romp around the Eiger Nordwand Short track.
This selection comes from one of our quickest and long-standing members – @mcsqueegy – who’s picked the Audi quattro S1 Rally Car ’86 and made it more agile around the tight corners by using harder tyres on the rear (sport soft front, sport medium rear).
Other than this tyre change, tuning is prohibited so only an oil change and brake balance changes are allowed. Drivers are asked to post their first 2 splits and keep their full lap time secret to liven up the fun and suspense, and those splits are automatically relayed to the leaderboard. Full lap times will be revealed here at the deadline, Monday September 21st @ 11:59pm UTC (click for local time), as well as driver handicap updates based on the results.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Weekly Race Series, it’s very simple to join and take part in our events. Just follow this link and complete the sign-up process to start up your GTPlanet racing career.
Of course time trialling might not be your thing, and the WRS also offers Online Events and Special Events. Online Events typically last just over an hour for qualifying and the race – the most recent had a great turn-out of 15 racers – and when the Audi time trial is completed there’ll be an Online Event with three available time slots:
- Worldwide Weekend (WW): Saturday Sept 20 @ 7pm UTC
- Europe (EU): Wednesday Sept 23 @ 7pm UTC
- North America (NA): Wednesday Sept 23 @ 7pm EDT
Should you join the WRS you’ll also have access to longer Special Events. The most recent of these was the 7.5 Million Hardcore Classic Race, testing drivers’ abilities in a 54-lap race around Brands Hatch GP course with weather and no ABS in the Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta.
See you out on the track!
I might be a little biased but this is a great combo for new guys to give a try… just saying :D
It’s the place where I’ve learned all I know about competitive racing, online racecraft and I’ve made a lot of friends. Great fun.
I’ve been part of WRS for 3 years now and it has given me a new appreciation for the game. Cars I would have never used before, tracks I wasn’t familiar with, become great fun. It has certainly made me a faster driver…Keep up the great work guys.
I recommend it, great racing. :-D
I can vouch for that, it really is a lot of fun. Also one of the best communities on GTP.
As a relatively new member to the WRS, and becoming more active in the TTs and online events, I can say this is some of the best racing you’re going to find anywhere. There’s something for everyone (TTs, Sprints, 2.4hr enduros, etc) and the racing is clean, respectful, and fun! Not once have I seen dirty driving and I doubt I will for a long while.
