It’s been much quieter this week thanks in part to the Tokyo Game Show being right around the corner, however, while there hasn’t been any newsworthy tidbits regarding the upcoming Gran Turismo 6 as a game, there is the upcoming Jalopnik Film Festival, presented by Gran Turismo 6.
I’ll be there as will a few more of GTPlanet’s staff, so if you’re planning on stopping by don’t be afraid to look us up! We’ll talk more about the festival later on, and since there really isn’t much to open up with this week considering the calm before the storm known as TGS, let’s get a move on!
GTPlanet Picture of the Week
This week’s featured image, recommended to us by sems4arsenal and courtesy of Kodje, features Jaguar’s elusive XJ13 prototype race car; a race car meant for Le Mans in the 1960’s but never laid it’s wheels on track.
Have a suggestion for next week’s featured image? Drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Picture of the Week” and fill it out with your two choices and they’ll be featured in upcoming Rewinds. NOTE: You cannot elect your own work.
Jalopnik Film Festival – The World’s Fastest Film Festival
You’ve heard about this time and time again throughout this week, and for good reason as not only will you be able to see Ron Howard’s RUSH ahead of the theatrical release, you’ll be able to sit down and spend some time with the latest build of Gran Turismo 6, and who doesn’t want to spend time with that?
The scene is New York City so you know I’ll be onboard, possibly prepared to ask some questions if I’ve given the opportunity. The one thing I do know is the Rewind will be lined with GT6 and RUSH excitement once it’s all said and done.
Early bird passes, once going for $50, sold out within hours of the first day of availability but fret not as you can still obtain tickets albeit at the higher cost of $80. As mentioned here, if you’ll be dropping by give a shout out in the comments.
Forza Motorsport 5 – Bathurst is Coming
If you’ve been playing Forza since its inception back in 2005 you will no doubt be able to recall a fantasy track by the name of “Blue Mountain Raceway” which was Bathurst in creative licensing dress-up. Now, after asking and asking the real deal will make it’s Forza Motorsport debut in the upcoming FM5 for the Xbox One.
Couple that with the fairly recent addition of Spa-Franchorchamps and FM5 is quickly shaping up in it’s track availability, and there’s still so much more to be announced. Stay tuned.
GTPlanet Member of the Week
You know what time it is, time to acknowledge another grand member of the community who has stood out for all that they’re worth, and this week another Junior member has joined the madhouse known only as “Member of the Week”. So let’s welcome the newest inductee into the hall of fame, Liquid! Having joined in just 2011 he’s made quite the impact and that’s worthy of recognition by itself.
The interview itself will provide you with it’s fair share of laughter. For the full interview be sure to stop by the Member of the Week thread and get to know Liquid better, or maybe even see the world through his eyes. He is, after all, the seventeenth member to be recognized among his peers. Who’s next?
EDIT: The interview has landed. What are you waiting for? Go read it now!
Anyone you’d like to see recognized as the Member of the Week? Drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Member of the Week” and fill it out with your choices and they’ll be featured in upcoming Rewinds. NOTE: You cannot nominate yourself.
GTPlanet Vehicle of the Week
With an estimated 450 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque, it is the most powerful standard Corvette model ever. This week’s vehicle is none other than the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C7).
The all-new Stingray shares only two parts with the previous generation’s Corvette, everything else is entirely new: an all-new frame structure and chassis, an all new powertrain and supportive technologies, as well as a new exterior and interior designs.
The all-new 6.2L LT1 V8 powerplant combines advanced technologies such as direct fuel injection, Active Fuel Management, continuously variable valve timing, and an advanced combustion system that delivers more power while using less fuel. The new powerplant enables the Stingray to reach 60 mph in less than four seconds as a result.
The new Corvette Stingray will be built at GM’s Bowling Green, Kentucky assembly plant, which underwent a $131 million upgrade, including approximately $52 million for a new body shop to manufacture the aluminum frame in-house for the first time.
Have a suggestion for next week’s featured image? Drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Vehicle of the Week” and fill it out with your two choices and they’ll be featured in upcoming Rewinds. NOTE: You cannot elect your own work.
GTPlanet Tune of the Week
This week’s tune is all about classic American muscle which means you’re going to have more torque than you’ll know what to do with. Recommended to us by tuning aficionado danbojte and courtesy of resident GT tuning addict praiano63, features the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.
Tuned for 500PP events, this tune for the Camaro gives you 390 horses to play around with on a track of your choosing as the tune itself is well-balanced and quick
Victory is the name of the game as usual and if it’s a deserving victory that you’e after and you want to do so using a bit of German excellence, then you’ll want to stop by and see the tune for yourself.
Exactly like the Picture and Vehicle of the Week features, if you have any suggestions for the upcoming Rewinds be sure to drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Tune of the Week” and let me know. NOTE: You cannot elect your own work.
GTPlanet Photomode Competitions
In Week 145 of the Standard and Advanced competitions you are to put your best foot forth and show the community just how seriously you take your in-game photography. All you need to know is as follows:
Week 145, Standard: Four Doors and Foot Through the Floor – “Building on top of the speedhunters theme last week, lets take some sedans out for some maximumattack! So super aggressive sedan action shots! Oh and no premiums! Any track is fine, Good luck!”
Week 145, Advanced 2.0: Serenity – “In GT5 I love leaving the car in the garage from time to time and wandering around tracks trying to take great pictures of the scenery, real photography in a sense as in the real world I don’t have access to raging supercars of million pound hyper cars so i like to use GT5 in the same way from time to time…no cars, just my feet and my camera.
So, sometimes i take a great picture of a building or a bridge or a mountain and i just wish there WAS a car there posing in the picture. That mix of stunning location and a stunning car.
That, is your task this week. Find an absolute glorious location and take a photo of whatever car you like sitting in a the ideal scene…the perfect mix of location photography and stunning car to create an astounding picture.
Some examples fitting to this theme:
HERE – HERE – HERE – HERE – HERE – HERE
The cars can be moving or stationary. It’s up to you to take the perfect picture of the perfect combination…the more glorious the better.
Architecture and aggression…Mountains and machinery…Trees and torque”
For all of the relevant information pertaining to this week’s challenges be sure to stop by here and here.
Closing Thoughts
You may have noticed the Rewind is without a WRS mention this week but fret not as soon as the latest event is up and ready it will almost appear as if it were never absent in the first place. Such is the artistry of writing; you’d never know things were missing once they’re put back in place.
Yes, I’m still playing Euro Truck Simulator 2 and yes it’s still addicting. All has been relatively quiet this week for reasons already mentioned at the beginning of this wonderful article of mine, but all of that should change in the coming weeks once TGS is within reach. Who knows, perhaps the Jalopnik Film Festival will serve as the US-equivalent to whatever announcements are made during that time. We shall see.
Now a message from our sponsor, me:
While you’re salivating at the very thought of Gran Turismo 6 finding itself into your PlayStation 3 this coming December why not take the time to become a full-fledged member of our wonderful community. It’s free and we have cake! Okay, we don’t have cake (the cake is and always will be a lie, remember this!) but we do have a strong community and we’re always talking about something interesting. If you aren’t already a member you should join today and maybe you can work out a patented antidote for “Lying Cake Syndrome”. Seriously, it’s been years since I’ve had cake.
My shameless Twitter plug has also returned!
Once again I forgot to mention that I’m on Twitter now. What was once going to be a bit of parody account (because I don’t use Facebook or Twitter for any reason whatsoever) has quickly turned into me using Twitter rather effectively. So, follow me and suggest all things Rewind-worthy from the comfort of your tablets, phones, or Skynet-linked computers. Remember, when the machines finally rise you’ll need someone to write pieces regarding the matter littered with Armageddon-y undertones and I can be just that guy! What were we talking about? Right, Twitter, so if you’ll follow me here the Rewind can be delivered to you in a timely fashion not seen since snail mail. Wait, that’s not the right thing to say!
You will be showered in Rewind, Seasonal Event and future article goodness courtesy of yours truly, so there’s that worth looking forward to once I’ve bothered to get the thing up and running. It can also be used to suggest things for upcoming Rewinds, so that’s now two ways you all can keep me on my toes.
I look forward to the film festival with great anticipation and if you’re going to be dropping by be sure to find me and bug the ever-living out of me! I like people, you know. Sometimes. How will you know who I am? Oh, you’ll know. Trust us.
In any case, with all of that said, copied, pasted and done it is once again time to bring this feature to an end. Until next week, keep racing!

Haha. Reading these comments man. Great writeup.
I love how forza hassss to copy everything GT does. Gt gets spa and bath now forza has to too. Its not like there is a massive list of world reknown tracks out there. Watkins glen?? Fm copies gt’s cars and now their copying the tracks, even gt’s original tracks automn ring, new york, the swiss alps track and probably more. Not to mention they basicly copied the whole game setup with tuning and upgrades etc. Lets see what has gt copied??
Yeah, because Forza doesn’t have anything that GT already doesn’t. And I wasn’t aware cars and tracks were a first come, first served basis. But by your absurd logic, GT has copied Forza since GT6 will have cars that are already in Forza 4. Oh, and GT also “copied” Silverstone since that has been in Forza since FM1.
Please stop it with the ridiculous accusations.
I’ve already said it once before after deleting one ridiculous flamebait comment, but I’ll indulge in your monotony:
1. GT was not the first game to feature Spa-Francorchamps, and thus, by your logic GT has copied every other game that featured it beforehand.
2. The SRT Viper, almost every Ferrari, almost every Lamborghini, ’13 Shelby GT500, S1 E2 Quattro are just some of the cars coming to GT6, or already present in GT5 that Forza has already had, thus, by your logic GT has copied them.
3. As already mentioned, Forza Motorsport has featured Silverstone since 2005, thus, by your logic GT has copied them.
4. Turn 10 have already admitted, publicly, on several occasions, that the original Forza Motorsport was basically a GT clone as it was used as inspiration; they are GT fans, believe it or not. That excuse—if you even want to call it that—holds no water as a result.
Anything else feel free to PM me and I’ll politely poke several more holes in your notoriously flawed argument.
I agree with Muo… It’s horrid..
But the one thi g I hope they don’t copy is the punitive windshield wiper on the R18…
I mean, what were they thinking? It looks no where close!
Further more, anyone who spells like that in an argument has no leg to stand on, allow me to correct some glaring errors. Has = 1 s, It’s has an apostrophe, renowned has no k but it needs an ed, their should be they’re abbreviating they are. Autumn has no o in it. With basically you are missing an a and an l. Let’s is missing an apostrophe. Not to mention the missing of caps where required (F)orza (S)pa (B)athurst is in Australia Bath is in the UK. (N)ew (Y)ork. I would be more concerned about learning to spell rather than who copied who or what and when. Forza has a GT feel to it yes however it is a great game in it’s own right. I love GT for the physics which are superior to Forza but I love Forza’s customisation as well as the options of cars that are just not in GT at this point IE Gumpert, Konnigsegg, Ascari, SSC juts to name a few manufacturers we have yet to see come to GT.
Meh if you play the Nordschleife once in Forza you hate this game. I only can hope for the MS heads that they will redesign the Nordschleife. In FM4 it is a shame. So you automaticaly start thinking that all tracks in FM has this low quality just like the NS. I mean not the graphics here. I mean the track accuracy.
That’s a bit of an overstatement, but I get your sentiment with the Ring, so long as accuracy on that track is a priority. For the majority of people, they couldn’t care less.
Fortunately, all tracks are said to be laser-scanned in FM5, and unless it was a mis-quote, FM5 will be the first game to have a laser-scanned Nürburgring.
The Member of the Week interview is up!
Hope we see Bathurst in DLC form soon. They scanned it over a year ago, so it was a bit disappointing that we heard nothing of it when they announced tracks.
It’s not over yet, there’s still TGS.
Yes I am hopeful this will be the remaining new location announced. As T12 advises TGS is round the corner and there is also Jalopnik in NYC same weekend so if its gonna happen this will be where we find out I would think
But, if it comes as DLC, we won’t find out about it until they’re ready to release it!
Unless they’ve planned the release to coincide with a particular racing event, in this case the Bathurst 12hr in February…
Actually it was well more than a year ago if memory serves. Wasnt it about the time Spec 2.0 was coming out?
Actually T-12 provided a link below, date says March, 2012.
@ Amac500 and Pit Crew – Sorry but, who cares when it was scanned? What we want to know is when it’s going to be released!
Will it come with the game straight off or will it be DLC in February? Or at all???
One other concern I have is – Was it even PD who scanned it last year? Turn 10 is bringing out Bathurst in FM5, so who’s to say it wasn’t them scanning the track?
^???^ I thought I was answering Amacs inquiry, plus if you actually look at the link instead of trying to go off on folk for asking, you’ll see that the guys said the track was being scanned for GranTurismo. Along with a Quote by you were you thought GT6 was 3-4 years away. Didn’t realise it was against forum rules to be curious.
Plus this>>: If you’ve been playing Forza since its inception back in 2006 you will no doubt be able to recall a fantasy track by the name of “Blue Mountain Raceway” which was Bathurst in creative licensing dress-up.
That photo of the XJ13 is amazing, much like the car itself. It’s a huge shame we never got to see it out on track and hear that amazing V12 engine… even though it was pretty outdated because of the GT40 and would have taken years of extra development to be competitive, it still would have been an amazing sight.
Thx
hello every one im new here
Welcome aboard.
Heeey bud. :D Welcome to GTPlanet, great to have you aboard. :)
Welcome to GTPlanet.
And nice Rewind T-12! (As usual)
Sup Z, Always great to have another GTphile to strengthen what is already a great online community
Kodje’s and leeislee’s photos are stunning.
Thx !
It’s exciting to see Bathurst in both game series now (It is in GT6 right?).
It was said to have been scanned: http://www.gtplanet.net/bathurst-scanned-for-gt6/
Man seriously this track needs to the final location announced for GT6 release day. Ever since the article about PD scanning Mt Panorama for GT6 came out I have been chomping at the bit. Especially since I have driven the track before and know what painstaking effort PD go to when rendering tracks (ie SPA and Nurb) it’s going to be nothing short of amazing and should be right on the money! (BTW unless you have driven this track before in the real world you honestly can’t appreciate how the camera’s don’t do justice to it. After driving it my respect level for the V8 supercar drivers (which btw is a very healthy respect) has gone though the roof. Just simply an amazing and hallowed piece of tarmac)
Let me make one thing painfully clear, you are free to discuss the merits of Gran Turismo compared to Forza Motorsport and vice versa, but keep nonsensical flamebait comments off of my article.
T-12 you know that there is always gonna be at least one clown that’s gonna Troll away. As usual good work!
You just ruin all the fun…
