Happy Halloween! I know this will be published on the first Friday of November but I’m writing this on Halloween so there’s a technicality there that only I can attest to, so once again, Happy Halloween!
With that set aside November 1st is the beginning of all things new; in a mere fifteen days we’ll see the launch of the PlayStation 4, followed by the Xbox One a full week later. If neither of those facts light a fire beneath your feet then you’ll be pleased to know that now is the time where news revolving around GT6 is going to come out from all sides of the universe as we’re at that critical point in its development where the master copy has already been submitted for mass printing, or is very close to being submitted for mass printing; either way you look at it we don’t have much longer to wait.
Last week we learned that GT6 will feature triple F1 world champion Ayrton Senna in a variety of content coming to the game in the form of downloadable content, therein providing the possibility that the Inerlagos Circuit may be featured in the game as well. As always, you can read all about that right here just in case you missed it last week.
Congratulations are in order as the 2013 F1 championship has been decided with Vettel taking the title at last week’s Indian Grand Prix; now the battle for second place begins, and that battle is between Mercedes AMG, Lotus F1 and Scuderia Ferrari. Who do you think will take the second place crown?
And now the weather.
GTPlanet Picture of the Week
This week’s featured image, coming to us courtesy of ffjjbb, features the Mercedes McLaren SLR posing for the camera at Special Stage Route X, giving a real feel for the wet and cold environment. I’m a little chilly just looking at it.

A Better GTPlanet
The all-new GTPlanet 12 is here and it looks fantastic. It may take a little getting used to, but for the most part the new forum is better and cleaner-looking than before – there are even better community features, such as the news and activity feeds so you won’t have any trouble keeping up with what your friends are doing, making your experience here that much easier.
“Ease of use” was the primary objective going into GTP12, but instead of me merely repeating everything verbatim you can read up on all of the changes (and there are more to come!) right here.
Ascari Race Resort Coming to GT6?
The Ascari Race Resort hosts a private racing circuit with the sole purpose of allowing its clientele the ability to enjoy their exotic cars. With more than 5.4 km of tarmac across 26 turns, the track itself is the longest in Spain and according to local news reports from Andalusia, the circuit has been confirmed to be in GT6 and will host the international launch party for the title.
Despite that, with no official announcement in sight it would be best to take this as nothing but a mere rumor. For more on this story and the confirmed Course Maker location Ronda, Spain, be sure to stop by the original article right here.
Gran Turismo 6 Gameplay Videos
GT6 has been on a bit of world tour lately at various public game shows and we’re compiling the best videos that have the net (and our forum) recently.
Want more? Of course you do, here you go.
GTPlanet Weekly Race Series (WRS) Week 141: Roamin’ Roman
This week it’s all about a Fezza-favorite present since GT5: Prologue: the 1976 Ferrari 512 BB. With 372 horsepower going to the rear wheels you’ll have plenty of opportunities to slide around Rome in style.
A favorite from the Prologue days, and a car I have many copies of, for its Viola Dino paint. Have fun blasting around in this one!
Stop by the official thread here and remember that you NEED to be registered before officially participating in the WRS, and that can only be done by submitting a time for the official GTP Registry Qualifier.
Project CARS Welcomes McLaren Automotive
Slightly Mad Studios, the team behind the upcoming WMD-powered title Project CARS has recently announced their next major licensing deal; a deal with McLaren Automotive.

- 2013 McLaren MP4-12C GT3

GTPlanet Member of the Week
Once again it’s time to acknowledge a member of the GTPlanet community; a member who has stood out among the hundreds of thousands of members already here, both old and new alike for all that they’re worth and all they have contributed to the community.
We welcome yet another Junior member into the ranks; one who appreciates the wit of Sterling Archer as much as I do, so let’s give a very warm welcome to the newest member to find a vacant apartment in the ever-expanding MotW madhouse, Noob616!
The interview is now live and provides the usual share of laughter, but more importantly provides the medium of getting to know your fellow GTP members a little bit better. For the whole kit-n-kaboodble be sure to stop by the official Member of the Week thread.
Anyone you’d like to see recognized as the Member of the Week? Drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Member of the Week” and fill it out with your choices and they’ll be featured in upcoming Rewinds. NOTE: You cannot nominate yourself.
GTPlanet Vehicle of the Week
Wolfsburg / Nürburg, 20 May 2009 – There could not be a better time or place for a world premiere: parallel to the start of the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, Volkswagen is presenting the new Scirocco R for the first time anywhere. A sports car without compromise and a race track that demands everything of the driver will be meeting together this weekend.
Approximately one year after the market launch of the third Scirocco generation, Volkswagen is presenting the most powerful series built Scirocco ever made at the Nürburgring. Its charged four-cylinder 2.0 l TSI is impressive with an output of 195 kW / 265 PS and 350 Newton metres of torque – the dynamic effect is just as striking as the running gear which provides optimal traction characteristics thanks to, amongst other things, the new front axle differential lock XDS.
The design of the Scirocco R is largely based on the Scirocco GT24, which was designed for motor sports: there are large air intake openings in the front bumper which the engineers used to achieve optimal cooling for the engine and the brakes, and an integrated front spoiler as well as the bi-xenon headlights. At the rear end, the roof edge spoiler, which is much larger than on the standard model, a striking shining black diffuser and the chrome tailpipes of the dual exhaust system dominate the design. The side view of the vehicle is characterised by the powerful sill panels as well as the specially-designed 18″ alloy wheels “Talladega”.
Volkswagen will demonstrate the potential of the new Scirocco R during the 24- hour race with this racing version. With a total of five Sciroccos, driver teams including Dr Ulrich Hackenberg, member of the Volkswagen board of management for technical development, the rally world champion Carlos Sainz as well as this year’s Dakar winner Giniel de Villiers, will be at the start line.

GTPlanet Tune of the Week
This week’s tune, recommended to us by tuning aficionado danbojte and courtesy of CyKosis1873, features the 2007 Lexus IS F ready for any 535PP challenge you can possibly throw at it.
Victory is the name of the game as usual and if it’s a deserving victory that you’e after and you want to do so using the brute Lexus muscle, then you’ll want to stop by and see the tune for yourself.
Exactly like the Picture and Vehicle of the Week features, if you have any suggestions for the upcoming Rewinds be sure to drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Tune of the Week” and let me know. NOTE: You cannot elect your own work.
/Drive – Jaguar XKR-S GT Driven on Track
I think we’ve gone long enough without some real-life automotive bliss. You know my rule, the video does all of the talking.
GTPlanet Photomode Competitions
In Week 152 of the Standard and Advanced competitions you are to put your best foot forth and show the community just how seriously you take your in-game photography. All you need to know is as follows:
Week 152, Standard: Alternative Power – “No we’re not talking eco-friendly electric/hybrid machines. This week it’s about the alternative engine configurations of the boxer engine and the rotary engine.
Choose your favourite rotary powered or boxer powered car and put it through it paces out on the track.
Week 152, Advanced 2.0: Very Disco – “This week I want you to find a unique and really beautiful place. Try to take a fresh look at the tracks and then try to find this beautiful place on track/photoravel location that rarely used for photoshootings or maybe was never used for shootings. I know it’s hard to find it, but I know there are some really nice spots.”
For all of the relevant information pertaining to this week’s challenges be sure to stop by here and here.
Closing Thoughts
So I’m over my cold that started sometime late last week, and I’m back to feeling like one million bucks. It’s now the first of November (yes, I’m now acknowledging that it’s Friday morning) and things are guaranteed to get a little crazy around here with so many things just days away from release, and who’s to say some of the fun won’t begin next week?
Next week Saturday, November 9th is the one year anniversary of the Rewind and there’s still no line of sight suggesting how it should be commemorated. Any ideas are more than welcomed because it’s crazy how much time has passed already – it feels like I’ve just started doing this several weeks ago!
Now a message from our sponsor, me:
While you’re salivating at the very thought of Gran Turismo 6 finding itself into your PlayStation 3 this coming December why not take the time to become a full-fledged member of our wonderful community. It’s free and we have cake! Okay, we don’t have cake (the cake is and always will be a lie, remember this!) but we do have a strong community and we’re always talking about something interesting. If you aren’t already a member you should join today and maybe you can work out a patented antidote for “Lying Cake Syndrome”. Seriously, it’s been years since I’ve had cake.
My shameless Twitter plug has also returned!
Once again I forgot to mention that I’m on Twitter now. What was once going to be a bit of parody account (because I don’t use Facebook or Twitter for any reason whatsoever) has quickly turned into me using Twitter rather effectively. So, follow me and suggest all things Rewind-worthy from the comfort of your tablets, phones, or Skynet-linked computers. Remember, when the machines finally rise you’ll need someone to write pieces regarding the matter littered with Armageddon-y undertones and I can be just that guy! What were we talking about? Right, Twitter, so if you’ll follow me here the Rewind can be delivered to you in a timely fashion not seen since snail mail. Wait, that’s not the right thing to say!
You will be showered in Rewind, Seasonal Event and future article goodness courtesy of yours truly, so there’s that worth looking forward to once I’ve bothered to get the thing up and running. It can also be used to suggest things for upcoming Rewinds, so that’s now two ways you all can keep me on my toes.
The countdown is on. Are you ready? Until next week, keep racing!
