It’s a little funny to me that this week’s Rewind is being presented – the opening act, if you will – by an already prominent staple of the article itself; however, the community here is the central focus of the Rewind, and anything that makes the lives of the many easier will be showcased here.
With that tantalizing riddle out in the open you’re definitely wondering where all of this is going, and I’ll be happy to tell you: this past week, a new feature made its way to GTPlanet, and that feature will make the lives of every collective tuner looking to showcase their diligence, or every aficionado looking to find tunes for their favorites vehicles that much easier, welcome to the Gran Turismo 6 Tuning Database.
As you would come to expect by now, the Rewind will eventually evolve alongside this feature and will provide even easier access to tunes (I honestly haven’t the slightest clue how that’s going to work just yet!), but until that times comes – and I expect it to be fairly soon – you can stop by the official announcement thread and get all of the details you’ll ever require.
GTPlanet Picture of the Week
This week’s featured image, recommended to us by Oink83 and courtesy of Sjaak, features the Toyota Supra clad in Super GT dress tacking Grand Valley East.
Have a suggestion for next week’s featured image? Drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Picture of the Week”, and fill it out with your two choices and they’ll be featured in upcoming Rewinds. NOTE: You cannot elect your own work.
Bus Selecta – Design Your Own Aircooled VW or Pre-1973 Porsche
We’ve seen flash games like this before, where you customize vehicles to your hearts content, but this one is a little different as it focuses entirely on Volkswagens and pre-1970’s Porsches. It may be a little older in comparison to what’s been featured here before, but it’s still worth a look as there’s more to this than you might think.
There’s a handful of variety between the four selections available – whether it be different body styles or entirely different models, you’ll never tire (hah!) of customizing Camper Vans, Type 3’s, Beetle’s, or the wealth of Porsches available.
So, what are you waiting for? Stop by the website and get a move on!
Gran Turismo 7: Prologue On The Way?
It would appear that GT7:Prologue has been unofficially hinted at by a user “known to work for” Sony Computer Entertainment in a discussion on the gaming forum NeoGAF about the upcoming Driveclub for the PlayStation 4.
plainr_: “I swear Mr. Yamauchi, developing this game better not take half a decade.”
DemonNite: “Are we talking about GT7 or the prologue here ;)”

GTPlanet Quiz of the Week
The fourth week is upon us, and the question is and forever will be, how much do you know?
1. This monster is infamously known for lifting its nose up at the competition given enough straight line advantage.
2. Gran Turismo 2 is one of only two PlayStation titles to feature a “scratch ‘n’ sniff” disc, what smell was recreated when scratched?
3. This team is known for possessing the only 100% success rate in the 65-year history of Formula One.
Clues will be provided if necessary. The official thread is up and running but hasn’t been outfitted with the full breakdown of things just yet, so until that happens be sure to drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Quiz of the Week”, answering in the comments section does not count, and share your answers.
GTPlanet Member of the Week
The prized status and stardom that only the Member of the Week can bring has once again arrived and thus, it is once again time to acknowledge a member of the GTPlanet community; a member who has stood out among the hundreds of thousands of members already here, both old and new alike for all that they’re worth and all they have contributed to the community.
A Junior member is once again among the ranks, and this particular member is known for being a S.N.A.I.L., so let’s give a very warm welcome to the newest member to find a vacant apartment in the ever-expanding MotW madhouse, kcheeb!
The interview is now live and provides the usual share of laughter, but more importantly provides the medium of getting to know your fellow GTP members a little bit better, and his desire to make cars people want to drive. For the whole kit-n-kaboodble be sure to stop by the official Member of the Week thread.
Anyone you’d like to see recognized as the Member of the Week? Drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Member of the Week”, and fill it out with your choices and they’ll be featured in upcoming Rewinds. NOTE: You cannot nominate yourself.
GTPlanet Vehicle of the Week
This week’s featured vehicle is one straight from the Gran Turismo history books, and is one that should instill a fair bit of nostalgia among many of you. Without further ado, recommended to us by Tokyoracer247, is the 1994 Venturi Atlantique 400GT.
Have a suggestion for next week’s featured vehicle? Drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Vehicle of the Week” and fill it out with your two choices and they’ll be featured in upcoming Rewinds. NOTE: You cannot elect your own work.
GTPlanet Tune of the Week
I’m almost inclined to believe this week’s featured tune was chosen on purpose, as this week’s tune, recommended to us by tuning aficionado danbojte and courtesy of NEWDRIVER2, features the 1996 Lotus Elise, codenamed “Knight Rider”.
Victory is the name of the game as usual and if it’s a deserving victory that you’re after and you want to do so as a man who does not exist, then you’ll want to stop by and see the tune for yourself – and remember, Clueless, over The Hill Outlaws have been featured in this space on three consecutive occasions in the past, so we all know they’re capable of providing some of the best tunes available.
Exactly like the Picture and Vehicle of the Week features, if you have any suggestions for the upcoming Rewinds be sure to drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Tune of the Week” and let me know. NOTE: You cannot elect your own work.
GTPlanet Photomode Competitions
We’ve reset the counter for the sixth chapter in the Gran Turismo series and the photomode competition is back and better than ever.
In Week 15 of the Standard and Advanced competitions for GT6 you are to put your best foot forth and show the community just how seriously you take your in-game photography. All you need to know is as follows:
Week 015, Standard: Aggressive – “Take a picture of any car posed on any track, and let it show it’s teeth! – The car must be standing completely still or the highest camera speed setting can be used to achieve this.”
Week 015, Advanced 2.0: Goodwood – “Simple really – Goodwood seems to have a nice lighting model and I’ve seen some great photos taken there. Now I would love to see some more so take any car you like and photograph it at Goodwood – can be a static or motion shot – anything goes really.”
For all of the relevant information pertaining to this week’s challenges be sure to stop by here and here.
Closing Thoughts
That’s all for this week, until next week where I’ll call on one of you, the GTPlanet Faithful, to assist me in conquering the world, keep racing!

Hmm let’s see you want me to pretend that i have a porsche when you aggressive enough to pursue auto companies to get the rights to get new models on the game? but instead you release gt 5-6 with cars that are 9 to 10 plus years out of date Ok some of the old cars have a place in gt5/6 But Let’s Get Real For A Minute What In The World Do You Think You’re Doing All I Hear From You Guys Is A Lot Of Talk An No Action . I’m sorry, but do you think I’m Polyphony Digital operating under a pseudonym?
XD This is WAY too funny… Omg, the mods on this site must get great laughs out of posts like these!
Build your own porsche?
Good to know that the unrest within the GT6 community isn’t even acknowledged.
Thanx man I agree. did you read my comment? Jacogt5
7P, 8, 9 or 10… Who cares? PD and Sony are not gonna sucker me into giving them one more penny. Welcome XBox One and Forza!
No my man, dont lose hope now. Things will come right on GT6 you will see. Dont lose hope Mozartist. Also read my comment. You will agree. Plz we are GT6 fans. Enjoy you’re day. Im gonna rave now.
How dare you mention GT(P) and Porsche In the same sentence with no relation!! ;)
Dear Mr. Kaz. What a dissappointment GT6 is thus far. 15 Years ago my father and I was amazed starting GT1&2 but ever since we heard rumours about the launch of GT6 we could bearely slept at night. But unfortunately the result was not what we had in mind by far Mr. Kaz. It seems to me that now there are a lot of doubting going on over the last few months of whether these things you were mentioning before the launch were true or not. For example, Endurance races? Arcade mode, tyres and fuel depletion? 16 cars? A&B Spec combined? Course maker? One make? monthly downloads like tracks for example? We payed for a full game but we only received half of it. We are falling back to GT5 Academy and that was the last thing I wanted to do. Mr. Kaz, we are still waiting everyday with hope to hear news about what will happened, and to see these things happening soon. But up till now, this is not a complete game. Regards
I would have to agree with you
Sad, but true.
Does anyone else think that if PD abandon all the pre-release features that were announced we should all be entitled to a refund of the full purchase price?
Surely every feature that was announced should be implemented otherwise it’d be a case of false advertising.
I really hope PD hasn’t scrapped GT6. I will be waiting for news on it. Hopefully next week we’ll know something.
Hey, PD. I still have like 10 bucks in my PSN wallet. Been saving it for GT6 DLC since the game’s release. I was going to spend it last night in something else, but I decided to wait a bit longer for that track. Better not disappoint ;)
That database is going to be nice, looking forward to that!
I want the venturi back
That bus selector is maybe what we will see in GT7 lol
Seems like the air is escaping from the GT6 balloon. I hope they come out with something soon.
BusSelecta is pretty neat, but I’m really, REALLY itching for some news about GT6 updates.
I hope nobody is holding their breath for GT6 updates. We’ve seen it all before from PD. I wished there was a sim racer alternative on PS3/4. Time to build a PC again to prepare for Project Cars and Assetta Corsa. Maybe the developers of these games are more included to respond to their community.
@mef Project CARS is coming to PS4 too.
Likewise here SnakeOfBacon. I really, really want to here news this week on GT6!!! I also posted a comment you must read. Jacogt5
