Aside from the recent 2.14 update for Gran Turismo 5 and the GT Academy demo raking in over 1 million downloads, nothing of any real interest has happened this week, at least as far as I’m concerned. That could all change at the drop of a hat though so don’t bury your head in your pillow just yet. Who knows what’s going to happen this weekend.
GTPlanet Picture of the Week
Once again we’re doing things a bit differently, not only will there be the usual picture featured in this segment but it will be accompanied by a personal soundtrack for better atmosphere. Once again courtesy of max351, this week’s featured image places the GT by Citroen in the spotlight and is titled “I’m a robot – Odd look”
Have a suggestion for next week’s featured image? Drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Picture of the Week” and fill it out with your two choices and they’ll be featured in upcoming Rewinds. NOTE: You cannot elect your own work.
GTPlanet Weekly Race Series (WRS) Week 126: Sjaak’s BC Car Has Got Some Clamps!
A Dream Car from GT’s past is once again in the spotlight for this week’s WRS event as you’ll get behind the wheel of the S2000 LM Race Car and tackle the Top Gear Test Track out in Dunsfold, England, and as always it’s your responsibility to put the pedal to the metal.
With an arguably stronger sense of familiarity than last week’s event, this week’s ride has more than 330 horses under the hood and is relatively lightweight which should make venturing around the track quite the chore.
What more do you need to know? Get out there and have some fun! Stop by the official thread here and remember that you NEED to be registered before officially participating in the WRS, and that can only be done by submitting a time for the official GTP Registry Qualifier.
GTPlanet Member of the Week
You know what time it is, time to place another member in the spotlight and acknowledge the worth they bring to the GTPlanet community. This week’s inductee possesses real world racing experience and will no doubt be able to put his own spin on things with a sizable chunk of accuracy, and is someone many of you will undoubtedly be familiar with, welcome Christhedude to the Member of the Week hall of fame!
For the full interview be sure to stop by the Member of the Week thread and get to know Christopher better, or maybe even ask him what it’s been to drive as many racing machines as he has and the varying levels of experienced associated with each and every one of them.. He is, after all, the fourteenth member to be recognized among his peers. Who’s next?
Anyone you’d like to see recognized as the Member of the Week? Drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Member of the Week” and fill it out with your choices and they’ll be featured in upcoming Rewinds. NOTE: You cannot nominate yourself.
GTPlanet Vehicle of the Week
Based on Mazda’s 1999 RX-Evolv concept and further built upon 2001’s RX-8 Concept, it will come as no surprise that this week’s vehicle, recommended to us by Bobert power, is the Mazda RX-8.
Incorporating both genuine sports car styling and an interior spacious enough for four adults, the RX-8 also includes a further refined front-midship layout and a four-door configuration without a center pillar. With the resultant 50:50 front/rear weight distribution the driving performance will be exceptional.
Have a suggestion for next week’s featured image? Drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Vehicle of the Week” and fill it out with your two choices and they’ll be featured in upcoming Rewinds. NOTE: You cannot elect your own work.
GTPlanet Tune of the Week
This week’s tune, recommended to us by Motor City Hami and courtesy of dr_slump, features the 2003 Trial Celica SS-II tuned for 490PP and 500PP events; that’s two tuning flavors for the price of one. One thing you should be readily aware of is 500PP is achieved by using the Power Limiter and not ballast.
Victory is the name of the game as usual and if it’s a deserving victory that you’e after then you’ll want to stop by and see the tune for yourself.
Exactly like the Picture and Vehicle of the Week features, if you have any suggestions for the upcoming Rewinds be sure to drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Tune of the Week” and let me know. NOTE: You cannot elect your own work.
Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series: German Tyre Killer
It’s an SLS with a larger penchant for rampaging chaos, what’s not to like about the new Black Series?
GTPlanet Photomode Competitions
In Week 138 of the Standard and Advanced competitions you are to put your best foot forth and show the community just how seriously you take your in-game photography. All you need to know is as follows:
Week 138, Standard: Comedy – This is simple enough as all you’re required to do is bring a little levity to this week’s competition, whether it be a particular situation, perspective, or placement, bring your A-game and give everyone a hearty chuckle. Remember, keep it PG-13!
Week 138, Advanced 2.0: The Force – You know what’s going on here so I’ll let GPR take it from here.
Showing my inner geek here a little, this week is all about the light side or dark side of the force. (Starwars incase you weren’t aware.) Basically pick either the Darkside or the Lightside and give us your best shot that has that feel. For example the darkside would likely be dark, menacing and evil looking and for the Lightside something bright and clean, airy or light in apperance. There’s lots of possiblities just has to have the right feel for the side you pick. Hope you have fun with it.
For all of the relevant information pertaining to this week’s challenges be sure to stop by here and here.

34th Weekly Rewind. Wow.
“To infinity and beyond” is my first thought when, looking at the top pic.
Terronium, could you please supply the link to the original version of the opening picture? It looks A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!!!!!!
Check the accredited footnote, that’s where everything not immediately mentioned in the Rewind can be found.
Member of the week interview with RACECAR was top ranking. Really good to have a motorsports fan show his knowledge and style.
Wonderful pics and feature video. Glad to finally see some cars battling it out in the pics of the week. Too bad I don’t have the editing software and the time to smooth out those jagged edges. Nice work guys.
No closing thoughts this week?
first and second shots are awesome!
Who did the first picture? Its 1000x times better than the odd photo.
ShaolinMasta is a master of edit ;)
My goal isn’t to be in the weekly rewind. That’s not me who chose it. I try to share poetry through my photos and not only flashy effects. open your mind a little bit.
All love :D
I really loved your photo Max!
Fantastic cover picture! I got a couple pics I keep meaning to post in the forum. I’ll be on vacation next week so I’ll get it when I return :)
Good choice with the RX8, the one in the photo looks exactly the same as mine!
I didn’t know you were capable of going to warp speed in GT5. Awesome pic.
That’s not warp speed… It’s LUDACRIS SPEED!!!!
What’s the matter Colonel Sanders? Chicken?
PREPARE THE SHIP FOR LUDICROUS SPEED!!

My favourite Car EVER .

Once the wheels stop spinning and you make actual forward progress, it’s pretty awesome, isn’t it?
Holy F that first picture looks so sick
That AMG SLS looks quite tasty, I sure hope PD got in on that action and put it in GT6 :D!
Yeah, we had none of those Mercedes-Benz Black Series cars on GT5. Hopefully it will change with GT6.
The first picture reminds me of the stargate sequence in 2001.
