A few weeks ago, the traditional and prestigious GTPlanet Weekly Race Series (WRS) qualifier finally arrived for GT5. After 4 weeks of intense commitment from the prospective registry members, the results of the qualifier are in and the provisional GT5 WRS divisions have been posted! You can see how you or your friends have fared here
Congratulations to all of our new and renewed registry members for their efforts, all of whom will now eagerly be waiting the start of the official GTPlanet GT5 Weekly Race Series. The highly anticipated WRS Week 1 will be posted here to the news blog as soon as it is up in approximately 2 weeks from now. In the meantime, feel free to introduce yourself to the WRS community here
If you’re still interested in joining the GTP Registry but missed the initial submission deadline, here’s what to do next:
STEP 1: Create a GTP_Tag PSN account here
STEP 2: Wait a few weeks until the Registry Qualifier is opened again and then run the GTP WRS Qualifier. Details here
STEP 3: Submit your qualifier times when the registry re-opens and await divisional placement.
Further detailed information on all of the above can be found in this very useful post, and can be discussed on the forums here
Potential competitors are asked to first of all run an official WRS qualifier combo selected by the GTP Race Admin team in order to be placed in a division appropriate to their ability. It has been WRS tradition for competitors to not only be able to win a weekly race overall, but also take glory in their own division. Due to the new physics engine of GT5, all interested drivers are asked to run the new-for-GT5 qualifier.
Some important information:
- The GTP WRS is run according to our strict but fair Online Racing (OLR) rules and guidelines found here
- Registry Qualifier times and any information pertaining to them must be kept confidential and only revealed to Race Admin staff during submission
- The WRS is mainly a time-trial / hotlapping contest, but your GTP_tag and divisional status will be used for upcoming official GTP Race Events
- It might be a good idea if you’re interested to see how the WRS has been run in the past and what it entailed. The archive can be found here and the details of the GT5:Prologue WRS here
Remember to have fun and always show respect for your competitors. The WRS has never been a win-at-all costs kind of competition, but with prominent members of other GT forums such as GTRP, GTro and GT5rs also popping in from time to time and having a go, the best drivers that compete in the GTP_WRS are well recognised in the online community! So if you think you have what it takes, join us in the WRS forums
I little disappointed that the Quali’s ran during the B-Spec competition (i.e a time when many of us had no access to our PS3’s… damn you Bob), but no stress, I’ll wait for the 2nd qualies to open.

You guys do a great job with the site, speaking in terms of organized events to ease of access. Thank you gtp admins and staff!
Thanks to everyone who is organizing this, I’m really looking forward to it!
Beastness
I would of signed up, if we didn’t need a GTP_Tag. Because some of us, don’t want to play through the whole game on a second save for a mix of reasons.
This has already been argued many a times so can we please not bring it up again. If you don’t want a second account thats. I suspect guys have numerous accounts for duping but a GTP account is to much trouble, go figure.
