Last week’s Track of the Week was a touge-driver’s dream, with Running Down A Mountain providing the proper spaghetti-like track map. We’re back to the wonderful world of replicas for this week’s episode of GTPlanet’s Track of the Week though, with Mugello Circuit coming care of community member gt6champnk69.
Download Autódromo Internazionale del Mugello from our GT6 Track Database
gt6champnk69 has gone a step beyond the usual replica approach. Not content with another Eifel Flat trace, he’s built the Tuscan circuit with elevation changes. Admittedly, the track’s climbs and dives don’t always align with the genuine article, but if anything, the changes combine to make a challenging track even more thrilling.
If you’re heading here in a low-downforce car, take note: the dip in the front straight has a noticeable affect on the F40’s engine note. Cars will get squirrely here. The first braking zone is a lengthy one, funnelling into a long sweeper that feels subtly different from the usual Mugello T1. The next left-right complex is fairly accurate, before the charge to T4 and T5. Exiting the latter, the slight drop downhill washes the car out to the curbing more than you’d expect, so don’t get over-eager with the throttle!
Turn 6 – the awesomely-named Casanova – is one of my favourite features of Mugello, and its character survives intact in this replica. In the video, I’ve taken a conservative speed through here, but a canny driver can really take huge bites out of the competition if they keep their foot in. Shed some of that built-up speed for a respectable approach into T7, and get ready for the continual climb through the double-left up ahead. Take extra care on the crest of Turn 9, or you’ll lose whole seconds trying to rejoin the track.
The following two turns diverge from the real circuit quite dramatically, almost ending up as a stretched-out, mirror-image of Laguna Seca’s famous Corkscrew. I tip-toe through it in the F40, but it’s a wild ride in a race car!
After that, the only major change is the contour of T13. As the first part of the high-speed S-bend, the blind apex requires a slight dab of the brakes to line up and cleanly cut the shortest path. That final right-hander is just as challenging as ever, rewarding the drivers that know the exact spot to get back on the throttle and make the most of that long front straight.
This version of Mugello is a joy to drive on, even if it’s not 100% accurate. Do yourself a favour and download it. Congratulations to its creator, gt6champnk69!

“Last week’s Track of the Week was a touge-driver’s dream, with … providing the proper spaghetti-like track map.”
I apologize if this comes off as rude, but this if a misrepresentation of touge. Exaggerated, if you will.
Also, congrats gt6champnk69. Although I didn’t vote, I test drove a few courses. Yours was standout.
Congratulations to the winner, mugello is a very good track well done gt6champnk69
Sorry to be a pedant reader, but I think “Autódromo” is what you want in the title. Just looks, you know? ;)
*Just looks better, you know ;)
Love how I joke about the title misspelling while I fail at words X)
Thank you all who voted my track, it is a big honor for me. And thank you Kyle Patrick for your wonderful description of my track. Best of luck to all in next week. -:)
Thank you for building it! It’s been a favourite of mine for years, from the F1 2k2 mod days through Forza on the last gen, so it was great to see the name “Mugello” float to the top in the poll. Congrats again!
While the elevations are a bit off, the layout is quite reminiscent of Mugello and I’d feel right at home there after many laps on the laser scanned version in AC. It’s a simple yet deceptively challenging and very fast track and it would make a great addition to Gran Turismo Sport. Well done gt6champnk69!
I thought you didn’t play GT6?
Thanks Johnnypenso. -:)
I don’t anymore Obelisk, that’s why I said “I would” feel right at home and not, “I do” feel right at home. Trying to support the effort and a job well done.
