GTPlanet’s GT6 Track Of The Week: Autódromo do Estoril

Santa’s come and gone, the turkey looks like the scene of a violent crime, and there are plenty of shiny new gifts for us and our families to enjoy. Some particularly crazy folks out there lined up early, before the sun even rose, to try their luck on Boxing Day sales in some countries. We’ve got one final gift for readers though, and you won’t even have to get up out of your chair.

That’s right, it’s another Track Of The Week! Estoril will be the eleventh in the series, and the seventh replica. GTP user zzz_pt has crafted a version of the famous Portuguese track that pays respect to the late Ayrton Senna. You see, this historic layout is the closest the GT6 Track Path Editor can get to the layout Senna drove to pick up his first of many Grand Prix wins.

Estoril_track_map.svgThe lap starts with a heady charge into the first right hander, followed by a wriggle down into another, before being met with the braking zone for a much longer, tighter 180-degree right. A small-radius left feeds into the first half of the high speed back section, punctuated by a kink to the right. Next up is Parabolica Interior, the tricky increasing-radius turn that mirrors the similarly-named curve at Monza. Orelha is a low-speed right that leads into the deceptively quick Turn 8, which quickly morphs into an S-bend, home of the tightest turns in the lap. Finally, a charge down through Turns 11 and 12 brings you to up to the larger, challenging Parabolica Ayrton Senna. Maximizing exit speed here is essential if you want to set lap records like the legend it’s named after.

Not at all bro. But when they describe it as to be the closest created track of Estoril, the layout witch Ayrton Senna won his first Formula One victory, and they choose this version, yes I’m mad. Not to state that I would have wanted my version to be picked, no not at all, I simply find it a little odd you know?. Because this version/layout is the new version of Estoril, not that of 1985. it’s not the creator I’m after, it’s GT Planet.

It is not the correct layout of the Autodromo do Estoril in 1985. You have the first corner wrong, they have changed this corner a couple of years ago. My version is the exact layout of 85′. Check it out yourself. So to you that choose the tracks, do some kind of research before you choose a track of the week. So much for all of us in here who really take good time to create real replica of those tracks.

Thanks Kyle. :) For those interested I also made the GP version of this track, even more close to the real thing (4700m).

    Happy Holidays everyone!
