Heading into the final day of 2015, we’re here with our twelfth Track Of The Week for Gran Turismo 6 drivers. With the majority of the picks so far being replicas – like last week’s Estoril – we’re heading back to the realm of fantasy. We’ve got a familiar name with us for the trip too…
GTPlanet member Venari has shown us his work before, with the well-researched Sonoma Raceway all the way back in Week 3. His newest creation, Circuito Hornochuelos, is a massive, four-layout complex cutting through the Andalusia theme. The longest ribbon is 3.59mi/5.77km, while the shortest is 2.17mi/3.49km. This shortest “Club Circuit” layout runs a portion of the infield in the reverse direction compared to the full-length Hornachuelos, providing even more of a challenge to the driver.
The long version is incredibly fun, so long as you heed Venari’s suggestion of sticking to cars over 275bhp and/or 500pp. It undulates, it tests your braking, and best of all (if you’re planning on doing more than simply hotlapping), it gives you options. I’ll let the creator himself walk you through my favourite portion of the track:
“Compresión and Repulsión are a great combo for testing your brakes and are key to getting a fast time. You’ll want to straightline brake as soon as you clip the first apex on the left, and aim for the righthand apex at the crest. You can begin to turn, and while the car won’t lift off the track, it will understeer if you haven’t done enuogh work. There’s actually a fair bit of track here to play with so mistakes aren’t punished with crashing, but if you’re being chased hard, a clever driver will have braked earlier and on a different line, ready to late apex the crest and drive around you on the right-hand side, taking a better line into Curva Alonso.”
You can grab Circuito Hornachuelos here. The big red button will send you to the full-size circuit, while the links for the shorter variations are following Venari’s in-depth track guide.
