It’s that time again. Time for us to jump back into the GT6 Track Database here at the ‘Planet, and go for a drive. This week’s track should make you hungry for racing, and not just because it’s outline roughly resembles a steak. Mmmm, steak.
Lunarwaldring, the product of Dutch member Baspos96, is a 21-turn run through the Eifel forest. Clocking in at a few car lengths over 5km, it offers multiple opportunities for high speeds and daring passes. Elevation changes require both significant power, and exceptional brakes. Due to this, the track is best suited to faster machinery, which is why we’ve taken the Lotus Elise 111R Race Car out for a sighting lap here.
The lap starts with a charge to over 130mph before the anchors are dropped for the first corner, a third-gear, downhill right. The turn opens out into another full-throttle stretch, heading into a slight kink to the right that can be taken without lifting in appropriate machinery. Immediately after straightening out, back onto the brakes to maneuver through a mid-speed left, which deposits you downward – with a thud – into another right.
This morphs into a gradual curve which will see you back up to the same velocity you started the lap with, where you’ll again have to slow down for a right-hander (though this one is best dispatched in fourth, not third). With the course snaking upward, the next important braking zone must be taken care of with confidence, as it feeds into the long back straight. Cresting the hill, you’ll hit top speed just as you turn-in for the wickedly fast, super-long sweeper. This is where cars with significant downforce can make huge gains on less aerodynamic opponents. After that, it’s a twisty fall back down to the start line via a pair of S-bends, and the whole production starts again.

Looks like a chore, to me.
What’s the name of the color on that Elise?
That’d be Innocent Blue Mica, from Mazda.
Not gonna lie.. that looks like a pretty fun track.
I love the menu music from GT1. Is that from the Chevy dealer? How’d you download it?!
Honestly, I couldn’t tell you. I’ve had it for years now. Really improves the game, IMO!
