We’ve now got a first look at the PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced version Gran Turismo 7 in action, courtesy of a couple of bold attendees at the Tokyo Games Show in Chiba.
While the Gran Turismo World Series Tokyo event was perhaps the headline action taking place with GT7 this past weekend, it wasn’t the only one. Over on the other side of the metropolitan area, the game was making its public debut on the PlayStation 5 Pro.
Information given before the event suggested that there would be one solitary instance of GT7 running on PlayStation 5 Pro in a booth on the public days — September 28 and 29 — but it appears that this one station was also available on a press day. However, attendees seemingly had to be invited.
Only a couple of bits of footage have emerged from the event, likely due to most heeding the (perhaps too subtle) “screen capture prohibited” notice on the display — but they have given us a little more insight:
Thus far the only video clip we’ve found so far comes from Never 2Old4Gaming via X, who didn’t get a chance to play but did shoot this short clip of a race.
Although far from a direct capture, and shot from a few feet away on a phone then compressed by Twitter, we can nonetheless see the real-time ray-tracing in action. It’s most noticeable — as with the official videos used by PlayStation — when the silver R34 Skyline draws up alongside the black Porsche 911 996 GT3. It’s a little trickier to see what the door mirrors are reflecting, as the driver uses chase view almost exclusively.
Others have only been able to take some still images, but have given some impressions of the new visuals too, seemingly with several tracks available to play:
They also tried out an unspecified circuit with weather, remarking on how the surface water effects have evolved.
Japanese title Gamewatch was another outlet that tried GT7 on a press day, simply adding that the reflections show “the surrounding scenery and other cars competing for position”, as well as remarking on the colors and shapes of materials now in evidence.
The free PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced update for Gran Turismo 7 is planned to arrive in November, with the console itself launching on November 7.
