One of the most exciting new cars revealed for Gran Turismo Sport was the 2016 Toyota TS050 Hybrid LMP1 car.
That machine came agonizingly close to breaking Toyota’s winless streak at last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans before it retired on the final lap of the race. Now players can drive the TS050 in Polyphony Digital’s PS4 racer.
To help set up the handling of the TS050 in-game, Polyphony enlisted the help of Toyota driver Kamui Kobayashi. Kobayashi is very familiar with the TS050, as he smashed the qualifying lap record at this year’s Le Mans in the updated 2017-spec car.
Toyota Gazoo Racing recently released a video on its YouTube page of Kobayashi driving the TS050 round the Nurburgring GP course on GT Sport. Kobayashi also provides commentary of his lap and gives advice on how to best tackle the circuit.
You can watch the full video below.
During his visit to Polyphony Digital, Kobayashi commented that he hopes for everyone to enjoy driving the TS050 in GT Sport. The TS050 will be one of several LMP1 prototypes available to players when GT Sport is released.
Be sure to stay tuned for further news and updates in the run up to the release of GT Sport. For more on Kobayashi’s visit to Polyphony Digital, be sure to check out the official Gran Turismo site.
Gran Turismo Sport launches on October 17–19 for PlayStation 4.
