Italian supercar manufacturer Lamborghini will reveal its new SUV at 6.00pm CET today.
The “Urus” is set to be the brand’s first SUV, although it has some experience with offroaders, producing the bulky and intimidating LM002 in 1986.
Lamborghini’s projections have the Urus potentially doubling the manufacturer’s sales volumes, up to 7,000 units a year by the end of 2019.
It’s the latest car to be built on the Volkswagen MLB platform, following the Audi Q7, VW Touareg, Porsche Cayenne and Bentley Bentayga.
The Urus is expected to use a new, 4-liter V8 twin turbo, and be capable of 205mph. This would make it the fastest production SUV in the world, appropriately for the brand. Lamborghini is yet to reveal a price, but it’s expected to start at around $200,000.
Lamborghini has previously shown concept versions of the Urus, most notably at Pebble Beach in 2012. Today, however, will mark the debut of the full production vehicle.
